Day 2,178, 16:24 Published in Ireland Ireland by Bhane

Hello eIreland,

Our immigration rules have been working well. The committee has been doing good work vetting the immigration applications. The same policies and regulations will continue during my administration. It isn't broken, and I see no need to fix it.

Before accepting an immigration candidate or making a proposal, Dáil will require the appropriate seal of approval to be posted in their thread. Any proposals or citizenships used without pre-approval will result in the acting Dáil member's actions being featured in a [CP] report.

This is not harsh punishment. Let the public be the judge of your actions if you believe you were in the right. No one can claim these reports will spotlight anyone unfairly, as you have now all been informed of the objective rules that are in place.

Dáil Proposals

I have asked the congress to approve only one rule in regards to dail proposals during my administration. There seems to be a consensus agreement, so it will be the official dail policy during my term. If majority sentiment shifts the other way, I will edit this.

The dail members will not vote on ANYTHING for the first 12 hours of the voting period (unless he/she is absolutely certain they will not be online again before the vote ends)

This request applies to EVERY proposal.
It may be a procedural
It may be rogue
It may be controversial
It may have consensus
No matter what factors surround any proposal... the vote is not going to go through for 24 hours, no matter how fast we cast our votes.

A TD may be 100% positive that they are going to vote yes. Waiting at least half the day allows them to hear out any objections. A TD may be 100% positive that you will vote no. Giving the proposer the chance to make their case, doesn't hurt anyone. I know it's hard to resist casting reactionary votes the moment one sees a proposal on the administration page, but we can all appreciate the benefit of genuine discourse. There may be some mitigating factor that a TD has not even considered. If a vote is cast too soon, it cannot be taken back.

I am not going to direct anyone to vote one way or another. A TDs vote belongs to themselves, and nobody else (not their CP, not their party, not their MU). If dail members want to vote against the grain, they have every right. This policy will simply allow for discourse, and debate before impulsively clicking the vote button.

Cheers,
Bhane
Taoiseach of eIreland
