[CP Entry] 500 Days gone... A few steps towards a more harmonious New World.

Erepublik is designed to be a replica of real life. All our actions in eRepublik reflect real life behavior and actions by us. Likewise, in real life, we prefer doing business with our friends rather than our enemies. The present international trading system in eRepublik allows us to levy import taxes on all imports at a flat rate for all countries. This may needlessly restrict foreign trade between allies. The feature I suggest in eRepublik is Trade Agreements between eNations.

By this feature, countries would be a able to pass laws to create exceptions in the default import tariff for any specific country. This 'country-specific' import tariff will allow us to regulate our imports in a better and more effective manner. A nation would be able to restrict or augment trade with another by increasing or decreasing the tariff for that country.

This feature would open up a myriad of opportunities. One such possibility is that two ally nations may sign a Free Trade Agreement (like NAFTA in RL), thus freely trading with each other and allowing companies in both countries to have a bigger customer base and more business. Another idea is to just apply this to specific products (or raw materials). Canada can have a trade agreement with an ally which has high productivity for Iron to reduce the tariff on Iron, in exchange they may reduce their tariff for Canadian wood. Both countries will thus have access to cheaper raw materials even if they don't possess it. It would be a win-win scenario for both countries and would definitely help in trading of big ticket items like defense systems and hospitals.

This feature will bring eRepublik one step closer to perfection and will make special bonds between nations and encourage free trade.
