My dear children,
It has come to my attention that after almost a year of neturality, it is clear that we have made no progress at all. Under Slovenian occupation for the majority of the time, we have been unable to accomplish anything, and often times, we were left with no Congress. It is difficult being a small nation with resources which a larger nation desires, and time and time again, our country has been ravaged by the hordes of greedy Slovenians.
We have tried to negotiate with the Slovenians, and that has worked for a while. But afterwards, the deal crumbled apart as usual, and now we are left without any regions once again. The people of Switzerland are sick of it, and I am sick of it as well. That is why I think it is time to join EDEN.
Why would EDEN want Switzerland to be a member of the alliance? I understand that some time ago, our government was inactive, and therefore we had to be separated from EDEN. And yet, ever since we left, we have still had strong relations with EDEN and its members, and still despise the imperialistic nations of ONE. Although Switzerland is a small and weak nation compared to many other nations, I do believe that if we join EDEN, we will prove that we are capable of helping any battle out, even if only by a little amount of influence.
We own an important region in Europe, land which is easily accessible and easy to travel through. Switzerland will not only give EDEN a little extra military boost, but all the help we can possibly give. Therefore, I believe it is time for Switzerland to join EDEN.
There has been a poll held on the forum, and as of now, 70% of voters have voted in favor of joining EDEN, whereas 30% voted in favor of remaining neutral.
Now, I understand why some may be wishing for our nation to remain neutral. It makes sense that we do not want to anger our ONE neighbors by joining EDEN. However, let me ask you something... if Slovenia continues to occupy us and shut out any form of negotiation, how is it even possible for us to liberate ourselves from such cruel oppression? What else can we do?
In my opinion, EDEN is the only option left. Of course I would like to remain neutral and have friendly relations with everyone, but sometimes, it is important to adapt to the new environment, and therefore, joining EDEN is the best chance we've got in our fight against Slovenian occupation.
And so, my dear disciples, I would like to hear your opinions on this matter, so please, state your vote below, YES or NO, and if you would like to give a comment, you may leave one too. Please, only Swiss citizens are allowed to vote!

I personally spoke to a leader of EDEN and he told me that Switzerland risks too many invasions and its help is useless for the alliance.
EDEN did not consider Switzerland, so do not illude people.

Your neutrality would have been far more successful if you hadn't been so helpful in passing the USA through your country.
You should think carefully about this. If you join Eden it is less likely you will be allowed to keep a region or two free. Sure ONE may be struggling at the moment, but it will dominate again soon. And when it does you will be made to pay if you make enemies now.

We have been treated with doubt even though I could guarantee presence, along with the members of my MU in EDEN.

Because we should have a real discussion on our foreign policy which is actually pure shit: one day we're friends with Slovenia, then we welcome USA, afterwards we say Slovenia are our enemies and now we should join EDEN because ONE has some problems ?
What will be next ? When ONE will be again in all Europe we'll ask them to write a treaty with us and say that in fact we never really wanted to be in EDEN ?
The first thing would be to know what EDEN thinks about us joining them and what they would offer.

"Everyone should be laughing at us." - You're right, but nowadays nobody cares about respect. It's unbelievable, but (almost) all players forgot what "brotherhood" and "loyalty" means (and still, these two words are being repeated in propaganda articles all the time, lol).
To everyone who thinks joining EDEN is a bad idea, I ask you once again. What has our neutrality gotten us into? More and more trouble. Slovenia obviously doesn't want to give our regions back, so fighting back is the only option. But how can we fight by ourselves with no help?
Look, what are we going to do? Just sit around and hope that Slovenia magically disappears? No. We need to take action, and EDEN is our only option left. We have nothing to lose. Slovenia was never our friend, how can we be "angering" them? Even if EDEN doesn't help us that much, so what? It's better than nothing.
So be it [no strength left oppose] . Let's choose permanent occupation! It will cut short negotiations and save everyone's time! Don't even bother to apply for membership, nobody cares! Spare us this humiliation! Your article made the job anyway!

Switzerland, tribute respect to F4uc0n, who is the best player in Swiss community (together with big hearted Rican). I quote his words from the first to the last one!
I'm sure we won't be able to convince each other of our truth.. I think we who're voting against are not notorious EDEN hater, nor neutrality lovers, but merely pragmatist politicians..
try to understand our words and opinion along that. and also remember the whole game and the world around us was quite different when we were EDEN members. I think I'm only trying to be realist when I say neither global alliance is a charity organization.. they'll need something for something.
and last, luck on the battlefield can change quite quickly. for how many month had ONE the upper hand in Europe, and dominated the region of Switzerland? What is it exactly that makes anybody think it's gonna be permanent from now on? We can not turn the coat every second month no matter how desperate we are, as our virtues are few, we should value our consistence in foreign policies above everything..
I think everyone who comes to Switzerland and applies for citizenship, should be very clear on this: if you're about to take part in politics you have to accept that how thing work here is quite a different game experience compared to many other countries. That is what keeps veteran Swiss people in the game, that is what makes them keep their citizenship instead of chasing bonuses elsewhere. I like the elan of young Swiss politicians, but some haggard old folks of Helvetia have seen a lot, thus you should listen to their opinion sometimes.

It's not our neutrality which lead us into this situation. For me it's the result of inconstant foreign policy.
What do you expect from EDEN ? And what will they really do for us ? Because joining them would also mean no possible discussion with many countries around us.
We're risking too much for a tiny possible help which would probably never come (or at least never last long enough),
I'm not against the idea of joining EDEN (maybe it would be the best for us). I'm against the idea of doing it NOW without thinking about consequences (like always in our foreign policy).
We shouldn't decide something like that from one day to another (yesterday a poll and today a referendum...) That's stupid.

Switzerland Will Be Free!
Last time we didn't get a lot of support. Ah well things have changed; military reforms, higher levels of activity, better allies etc. Some don't want change, but most do. Which do you think the country President should serve?
Our glorious country's objective is driving Slovenia out of a region or two, one way or the other, isn't it? (I also have a strong pro-EDEN bias due to my past activity in eRomania.)
So I vote yes.
(of course, if the decision is made, eSwitzerland had better stick to it, like a real country of gentlemen)

@Those who are against joining EDEN
Guys, I understand why you do not think joining EDEN is a good idea. I get it. We might have not been given as much love as we wanted back then, but does that mean that we should never trust EDEN or give it a chance again? We were enemies with Slovenia, right? And we had some negotiations, and they worked for a month thanks to a humble President, but afterwards he couldn't even control his Congress. They wanted our resources and didn't even care that we were going to be wiped.
This has NOTHING to do with the US borrowing land from us. We INFORMED the Slovenian government that they would go through, and the Slovenian government had no problem with that. The reason why the deals crumbled was because the Slovenian Congress is, as always, unpredictable, and has now been hijacked by a strong group who do not with to negotiate with the Swiss. What can we do? If they don't want to talk, then there's no way out.
I ask again... what will we lose from joining EDEN? New enemies? No. Slovenia has always been our enemy, we have just had less tension for a while, but soon it rose again. Sitting like a duck, staying neutral, does not work for our country. We have been neutral for a year, and look at what has happened. In the end, we had no freedom, still.
In addition, there have been talks of joining EDEN for a LONG time now on IRC. Many diverse people from the Swiss community encouraged this idea. Why? Because it's worth giving a chance. The polls on the forum show the voice of the Swiss people, and the votes on this article show the voice of the Swiss people.
Although there may be a small group of you who do not desire joining EDEN, if the vast majority of Swiss want to, then I will do them a service and work as hard as I can to get us into EDEN. I know there will always be those who disagree, but if I make most Swiss happy, then I have done my job.

We did it once, they kicked out us, when Russian PTOes didn't connect with them. Is there any guarantee, that they don't do the same, when we have serious problems with PTOers?
