Well Sweet, I probably cannot as I am not privy to IRC conversations nor Irish cabinet deliberations. But I do know this.
Despite my posts that UK citizens are a bunch of shambling retards - and while in fact some (many?) are, or seem to act that way, many (some) are certainly not - actually they are quite bright. And I assume that if they don't intend, or even want, to keep Ireland in thrall, they have to take account of the opinions of those that do.

So no matter what our plans are to escape from UK control - you can bet they will be aware & working to counter them.
Consider this - in the UK's ego boosting part of the US gang bang. To prepare for it, they came to an arrangement with Denmark/Germany to keep them of their backs. Did they bother with any arrangement with Ireland? - no they could not be arsed. Not even one region to allow us a congress.

There isn't even a guarantee that any of these is a 'right answer'.

Generally, one of Ireland's advantages has been we don't really have a strategic value, so, apart from the Brits, we're not really an attractive proposition to attack. Personally I blame CoT for being so weak and ineffectual allowing TWO's utter domination.
