[CONGRESS ELECTIONS] Why a vote for me is not just a wasted vote...perhaps.

tl;dr - vote for Ando Calrissian in the London Congress elections

Some men were born to lead; some men were born to follow. I was born to disco, and to become an ESO-representative in congress. But only with YOUR help. I need YOU!

Yes, that is actually me, trapped inside your PC monitor.

A brief background on me as an eRepublik player. I joined the site on 7th March 2012, and have been here ever since.

I did say it would be brief. Now, onto what I stand for:

Domestic:

I share many core-values with my ESO brethren; of equality, of inclusiveness, of democracy, of honesty, and of transparency. It is on these five tenets that I wish to build my political career. Above all (and at risk of sounding like a kindergarten supervisor) I am pro-sharing, both of resources and of information. eRepublik is not an easy game to get into, with a discouraging military module that requires a high investment of time and patience, and a political module that is rarely as engaging as it should be. Overall, it’s quite easy to get the impression of buying a Monopoly set but not being allowed to roll the dice or pick up your cards; you just move where you’re told.

(Also, the money's worthless in the real-world and you never seem to have enough of it anyway.)

I want to be a link between the political class and you nobodies valued members of society on the ground. I am always online, here, in IRC, and on the forums (though I do mainly lurking there). I am perpetually at your service, to answer questions, to offer help, to speak with you. Please be my friend. I'm so lonely.

It saddens me how often we see lower-level players questioning military orders and misdirecting blame. It saddens me equally when higher-level players retort with condescension. Let’s proactively educate our citizens, not only in why we are fighting our own battles, but why our allies are fighting theirs. Let’s have the MoD and MoFA working together (better) to highlight or create articles that tell the larger story. Let’s not fall back on the lazy, “they’re our allies, derp”, responses: let’s educate!

For the record, I actually hate cats.

I support the NHS MU, and would like to see more done to help emerging players. The time between levels 10-25 is important. In times of peace, we should resurrect the forum missions, to encourage development in players in this level-range. We should encourage wealthier players and MUs to provide gold loans, such as the scheme run by Carlini8 recently, that easily enable players to upgrade their training grounds as soon as possible. This in turn benefits the nation!

In times of war, we should reward these younger players for their daily kills, over and above their Daily Order. I remember how difficult it was just to complete my DO at times. A scheme should be set up, offering rewards for certain numbers of kills (this target linked to their level), encouraging soldiers to exceed their expectations.

Blah blah blah domestic stuff...

International:

I am not fanatically pro-ONE, nor am I a disquieted rebel. The past week has shown the true, current value of our alliance with Poland (and other allies), and the eUK is grateful. Not sycophantically so, of course, since we are a valued member of the alliance in our own right and this is what alliances are for. However, the times are a-changin’, quoth Bob Dylan, with the possibility of many more international alliances rising and falling over the next month, and it would be naïve to rule anything out. Being young, fresh-faced, gorgeous, and relatively new to the political scene, I feel untainted by any international bias and willing to judge all possibilities by their own merits. It could be dangerous for the UK to unquestioningly pin its colours to ONE’s mast without first debating what other boats are available, and I anticipate this will be a key issue in the coming days.

Y’know, to break up the wall of text…

I support imaginative leadership, such as that which brought us the Irish land-swap deal. However, the viability of this deal will need to be raised again as soon as possible. At the right time, I would call for a public referendum on this issue, a key issue that divides our country.

Blah blah blah international...

To Conclude:

I challenge you to find another citizen who is more concerned with the welfare of the eUK than I am. I'll kill the man who claims otherwise! Especially if he's British; I hate those guys!!!1

Anyway, you’re all asleep by now, no doubt, so I will take my leave (after groping you for a little while). Vote for me. Vote for giving youth a chance. Vote for giving power to those who don’t know what they’re doing yet but who will go on to become legends of the political arena.

…just vote. For me or anyone more competent. Or for me. Yeah, me.

FIN!
