Why would you create a section for Congress members to talk about non-congress members? Seems a little suspicious to me. You're not giving the people you're talking about a chance to defend themselves, if it's like what I'm picturing.

So we put our political ambitions aside for a month to support unity candidates and one of the first things that happens is congress decides to meet and debate behind closed doors. Why the need for secrecy??

This is a small but significant erosion of our democracy.

Congress has always had a separate section on forums, in almost every country. This isn't really anything new.

The topic or board you are looking for appears to be either missing or off limits to you.

Some Congresses *have* worked on being more open and transparent. For example, using boards where only members can post, but all can read. Obviously some discussions regarding national security need to be closed. But why assume everything must be hidden?

in France we had also open congress sessions, so people will know the debates done by their representatives, and who is active and who is just a phanotm

Hiding everything shows complete mistrust and contempt for the electorate that worked to put you into congress. I really don't buy the "every other country does it so we should too" strategy for anything. Phoenix Quinn's comments make sense to me. An electorate would get to see which congressmen are active and whether they are up to the role. The only ones who could object to this are those who are inactive and/or incompetent.

duh. not everyhthing is hidden. 🙂 that place is just where we are meeting for now, to decide where we go from here. obviously in democracy/republic - the elected members must decide where to go next.

🙂 we have the general boards where we discuss important issues in public too, if you have not noticed. have you been there??

1. How can eNZ have an immigration plan/ban in place where you're removing the power from the congressmembers (we elected) to a person or group that hasn't established a democratic majority or bi-partisan consensus?

3. What others have said about open view (but closed participation) congress boards.

We'd like to see the people we elected doing their jobs and expressing their opinions so that we have something to base future voting on rather then another approved list being produced detailing where eKiwis must vote.

2. How about adding a N.Z.U.P member to the admin team?

Not only can they then produce and administer the seperate section and ensure representation amongst the controllers of that forum. It would also help assuage any concern and criticisms coming from other players concerned about a cabal being formed.

CDV, but obviously you're trying to hide something from people if you have a place where you discuss non-Congressional matters without people being able to read it.

I can't trust a government that can't be open and honest with its people.

Carr De Vaux, how would it feel if your Coungry's Congress or Parlement or whatever chose secrecy over pablicity and you had no information of what people are discussing there? Wouldn't you feel somewhat uneasy about this? Wouldn't it give you the impression of "conspiracy"?

There are ofc some "sensitive" issues, National Security Affairs for example. Ok then. Alliances are not a National Security Affair for the Congress to deal with? Are we to understand Congress will debate such issues in secrecy?

There's a public area in the Congress now, and the secret area is accessed by all of the government too. The congress is there to countercheck the Government, i guess it is fair that the board is open.

Alfa - the immigration duty is only to track. we are not rejecting anything at the moment. 🙂 I think it is good to have more ppl on the forum admin too. I ll proposed that again.
