[CDV] Global affairs - Where to now?

Day 823, 23:20 Published in Malaysia New Zealand by Carr De Vaux
Sorry if i don't put much links - it's been a while since i wrote any serious article

In recent weeks, while eMalaysians are busy squabbling over minor issues (like who should be the CP of a small neutral nation), some significant events have taken place. These events, unwittingly, have shaken the core of most global and regional alliances (EDEN, Phoenix, Sol, Entente and ALA). Jonny Tan, a young writer, has nicely summarized the current global alliance setup. Let's analyze three of these alliance (EDEN, Phoenix and naturally Sol) to see where does the future of the global affairs look like.

EDEN - the 'defensive' alliance

After much success for most of WW4 in 'liberating' various Peace/Phoenix occupied nations and its failures at eUK, eBrasil and eChina, EDEN as a whole begin to wobble. Naturally, the communication and organisation of such a large military organisation would be tremendously tough, and EDEN HQ began to be criticized for its various falling and biasness (towards certain e-nations). As with all global alliances, sometime it is hard to align global alliance's interest with national interest, especially of all 'important' member nations. eRomania for example, recently pulled out and went back to the EDEN 'brotherhood'. Despite all the brotherhood propaganda, the truth (from battle damage statistics, eNations don't be behave so selflessly all the time.

The return of eRomania was only with the condition of total reform in EDEN HQ leadership. While the official words (to eUSA only) are to "to allow its leaders a well-deserved break and to improve its operating capacity...", the truth is, some of the larger EDEN nations like eRomania and ePoland began to feel 'sidelined'. Both nations failed to gain anything in recent months including the defeat in eBulgaria for eRomania and defeat in Brasil for ePoland. In terms fo damage however, eRomania and ePoland certainly ranked in the top three amongst EDEN nations.

The announced changes in EDEN HQ leadership too, is a scandal of its own. shoot, Gaius Julius and Cerber were all ousted. A relatively unknown character named avec (former CP of eFinland) took over as the EDEN Supreme Commander. jbdivinus, the current CP of eCanada, took over from Gaius Julius as Asst. Supreme Commander. The implication of this 'shuffle' is yet to be seen, but one awkward observation is the lack of participation from ePoland, eSpain and eUSA leaders in EDEN HQ. Note from the list below that these three nations were the backbone of EDEN HQ before the 'reform'. Would this lead to further disunity amongst EDEN nation, or perhaps even a breakaway EDEN-friendly coalition of eSpain-ePoland-eUSA?

EDEN HQ leadership (new vs old)
avec - (Finland) vs shoot (sweden)- Supreme Commander
jbdivinus - (Canada) vs Gaius Julius (USA) - Assistant Supreme Commander
Kalle Holm - (Sweden) vs vingaer (Bosnia and Herzegovina)- Foreign Affairs Organizer
Jasper Ferguson - (Australia) vs DomiBoss (spain)- Assistant Foreign Affairs Organizer
St00r - (Sweden) vs reboot (norway) Economic Organizer
Emir Ribic - (Bosnia and Herzegovina) - Asst. Economic Organizer (new)
Ivan Jovanonov - (Croatia) vs Cerber (Poland)- Military Commander
(none) vs Durruti (spain) - Assistant Military Commander
Mihail.cazacu - (Romania) - Intel & Security (new)
SaraDroz - (Canada) - Asst Intel & Security (new) (WOOT!)
Cerb - (Australia) vs Mistwalker (Romania) - Public Relations
Harrison Richardson - (USA) - Asst PR (new)

ps: Congratulation to SaraDroz, the former MoFA of eMalaysia, on her 'climb' up the EDEN hierarchy. 😃

Sol - neutral or non-neutral

Few months ago, some heralded Sol as the future of a third balancing forcebetween the Eden-Peace/Phoenix hegemony. With its neutral outlook and huge citizens potential (think eChina, eAustralia, eSingapore - countries with large internet user base), Sol could have really taken off. Not to mention High Resources within the original region of these nations. Yet, few months later (now), with Snayke moving to the background, Akki being out of Sol, Nagyzee being yet to able to convince his fellow Sol leaders that he could be Sol chairman - Sol the alliance had a turbulous period.

This cumulated in the Jan 2010 term of Albert Neurath, where infighting between leaders of smaller member nations nearly killed the alliance. The status of eAustralia as dual Sol-EDEN member is also quite uncertain. The words on the street is eChina is looking to join EDEN too. If two of the largest nation of Sol left, i doubt Sol will have much military power left in it. The concept of Soldiers (Sol military unit), so far, is in its infancy. The new chairman, Enoch Root's ability to pull Sol nations together is yet to be seen.

Externally, Sol is be-seiged from various ends. eChina regained and lost its Liaoning High Iron region. eRussia, eSerb and eHungary are awaiting at its door and eChina just declared war on eSerb (with the intention of regaining Liaoning). From the south, ePhilliphines and eThailand are under threat from eIndonesia. This is after the recent aggresion of eIndonesia into eMalaysia and eSouth Africa. Truth is, with Sol nations surrounding eIndonesia - the only way to regional peace is for eIndonesia to join Sol. But with so much animosity built up from recent wars and past take-overs/occupations - this remain to be seen. Will Sol rise again?

Phoenix - the Eastern Europe bird

Apart from the rumour (true) of eIndonesia leaving ePhoenix (eIndo decided to stay), nothing significant has came out of this alliance in recent weeks. Nothing significant in the sense that nothing that you couldn't not see within the eGobba world map. Yes, they defended eUK, eBrasil, eTurkey and few other regions. eSerbia got a High Iron (finally), but it's probably useless in a month or two, with the introduction of Titanium in v2. As EDEN has taken over Phoenix role as the aggresor, it is interesting to see eHungary helping eAustria against eCroatia invasion. As mentioned above, Phoenix is looking to liberate eGermany and eFrance in Europe as its short term goal. The recent RW in eFrance failed to yield any territories, and that loss got eFrench 'angry' as they were expecting significant help from Phoenix (who spent their day fighting Croats). I need to read up more on non-English news

I started this article, asking myself - where are the global alliance going - given the internal chaos in each one of them as well as the dynamic of the various large nations. With growing population and thus power, countries like ePoland, eSerbia, eRussia and eChina will began to dictate the direction and policies of the alliances....yet, after spending 1.5 hours writing this article, i am not quite sure where we are heading...🙂

Till next time, comment, vote and sub ya!
