[C4] State of the MU - CO's Take

Day 1,978, 02:50 Published in USA USA by Haselrig

➻ C4’s founder and honorary CO, Neron Trocki, recently outlined his thoughts on the state of the MU. I thought I’d add my voice to his, cover some of the same topics from a CO’s perspective. I’d like to begin by thanking you, the members of C4, for making this a great community in which to serve. After (roughly) three months on the job as CO of The Cannon Cockers, I thought I’d share with you some of the developments in the MU since I assumed that position. As many of you are aware, C4’s financial situation looked quite bleak at that time. Our government funding (OMS), having dwindled in the previous few months, was finally eliminated from the government budget with the funding of the official military (USAF) taking priority over OMS funding for militias like ours. Well, today I can assure you that any thoughts given to the inevitability of our decline have been proven wrong. Through the dedication and hard work of our veteran members and the senior officers, as well as the faith and sacrifice of our entire membership, C4 stands poised to enter a new era of sustainable self-sufficiency. I would offer the recent opening of two new C4 commune factories, as well as the opening of a 6th regiment, as manifest proof that we have not only survived the end of government funding, but that we are thriving. None of this would have been possible without the 516,732.23 WRM donated by our members since mid-January. The WRM donation program is a continuing source of personal pride for me as it was the first such project that I’d worked on for C4 and perfectly illustrates the sacrifices our members have been willing to make to safeguard the future of C4.

It is for the sake of that future that C4 makes the development of our members it’s highest priority. This foundational tenet is realized in the C4 Mentor Program and the Junior Officer Corps. As the first graduate of ArtSBobo’s Mentor Program, I can attest to it’s worth in guiding and supplying new players and equipping them with the tools needed to succeed not only in C4, but in the wider eRep world. Growing from the traditions of the Mentor program, the Junior Officers Corps (J.O.C.), headed up by C4’s resident factotum Alastor DoUrden, offers our members the opportunity to learn valuable officer skills including recruiting and QMing. In addition, graduates of the J.O.C. are entrusted with responsibilities within C4 that the average recruit is not.

The currency holding the most value in a military unit is not USD or gold, nor is it weapons or food, no matter the “Q”. The most valuable asset to any military unit lies in it’s members. I’d like to take a moment in this ever-lengthening article to acknowledge some of C4’s unsung heroes. Our Quartermasters, Xavier3 (GQM) & darksaurabh and our commune owners, adrjo, chazp & hazelh, should be highlighted for special thanks. Without their, mostly behind the scenes, contributions there would be no C4. I would hope you all would join me in saluting these individuals who are the true backbone of this unit. o7

I’d also like to take a moment to address the end of OMS, and what that’s meant for C4, in a little more detail. All decisions have consequences, both intended and unintended. The decision to end OMS was no different. The OMS funds received by C4 went exclusively towards the purchase of WRM. The decision to eliminate OMS from the budget left C4 to face the very real possibility that we would not be able to procure enough WRM to supply our communes. We accepted the decline and finally the ending of our funding as a tough decision made by reluctant legislators working under an ever-constricting budget. In that light, we concentrated on our immediate survival and working to become self-sufficient. It was only after running across this thread on the eUSA forums: http://eusaforums.com/forum/index.php/topic,24670.0.html that I started to look at OMS as something we were better off without, something to work very hard to avoid ever needing in the future. After reading through the thread for yourself, I’m sure you’ll come to the same conclusions I did. At one point in that same thread, the question of why eUS nationalism is sub-par when measured against that of our enemies is raised. I think the answer to that question lies in the thread itself when one stops and listens for the jungle and rice patty echoes of real world American soldiers fighting for a cynical leadership and a thankless populace.

Now, more than ever, is the time to stand side by side and fight as a member of The Cannon Cockers. We are a close community. We celebrate each other's triumphs. We appreciate activity. We are not consumed with personal ambition. We don't obsess over our differences. We focus on the challenges at hand. We work as a team to solve them.

We stand alone, together.

We are C4.
