Join the new world

The current Russian-Polish conflict has caused a mega stir throughout the world reaching into the United Kingdom as well in the form of a should we attack Russia/should we not debate. I outline here why I believe our attack would be such a bad idea, ultimately, a failure.

In this article I shall discuss the various issues surrounding this war, namely the Polish Empire, the war itself and the question of what will the impact be on CoTWO relations. I will raise the argument that the immediate benefit for EDEN is actually limited and temporary, that this war is merely just the next stage on the EDEN/CoTWO conflict and why it will change little in terms of geopolitics. I shall also be looking at the cracks in the Polish Empire and why those cracks are not as dangerous as many fear at this stage of the game.



The Polish Empire

The intial thing here to recognise is where the Polish interests are best served within their own empire and why this is important. The entire empire is built on military resources that benefit military production, therefore the only regions they need to keep are those that provide them with the 4 bonuses they do not have access to and the regions that link to Polands capital.



This is Poland's key region: Saxony. Should Poland lose this region they will lose access to all these regions from their capital.



As you can see, they will lose Aluminium, Iron, Rubber and Oil should they lose Saxony. A recent attempt was made, showing that EDEN is aware of this, but so is Poland. Without losing these resource regions and being able to maintain enough links, it does not matter how many other regions they lose in the long run.

Take a look at the northern nations under Poland's occupation, Sweden and Finland, they are almost both free because Poland does not care about those regions.

At the end of the day, these RW's being won are meaningless for Poland and only affect her empire in terms of other states controlling more regions. In other words, unless you take the resources or cut the lines, which is highly unlikely, ultimately the efforts of the rebels are futile. Poland's empire is still secure. However, there are ways around this, namely attacking while Poland is busy fighting Russia. I will explain why Poland can defeat this tactic in my next section.



The Polish-Russian War

Poland has successfully punched through Russia winning every battle so far despite heavy EDEN and USA tanking. Poland may have lost a number of regions at the time, but this is negligible in terms of the economy, as explained above. Poland can control the rate of RW through two main ways.

1) controlling the initiative between themselves and Russia, in other words, they dictate when and where the fight is. Due to their success so far in this, they have succeeded in penning Russia in so they only have one military bonus and 2 food bonuses. By controlling initiative they can deal with Russia while less important fights are happening, then move in and crush resistance.

2) Starting RW themselves in the Russian lulls. By starting the RW they can control when they have started and manage them to the detriment of their enemies and benefit of their own 10/10 resources.

Finally, we have seen Poland has the upper hand in this war so far due to the fact that none of her neighbours have NE'd her. France and Germany are holding to their respective treaties and even the Netherlands remain only behind RW's. Sweden and Finland have no real concern to get involved with Poland again, busy freeing their entire regions They may take the chance to free the whole of Norway instead of worrying about Poland. They also have the threat of Latvia and Estonia to worry them as well.



CoTWO and why it won't collapse

The most likely outcome of this war is the USA leaving CoT, possibly back to EDEN or of to do their own thing. But even this is not set in stone. CoT has decided to stay officially out of the war, but have given tacit approval of Poland at this point. Only the USA really is the dissenting voice.

Why is this? Why is the war not causing a bigger ruckus? Becuase of the repetitive wars along the border lines, ie: Macedonia v Greece, Bulgaria v Turkey and Chile v Argentina. These wars divide CoT from EDEN meaning that they will stay fighting each other, and at the end of the day, they need Poland and the rest of TWO in order to win.

This can be seen in the recent upsurge of EDEN victories, however, this is a pretty cyclical battle and is unlikely to last. Without TWO, though, CoT lacks the damage to beat the powerful EDEN nations mentioned above. In other words, CoT needs Poland to fight EDEN.

The nature of the EDEN v CoTWO war pushes them together in the end even if they are annoyed with each other due to the fact that they need each other as allies. Ultimately, due to the continuous wars that the main nations in CoT fight, TWO is needed to support them.



My closing thoughts are on Serbia and the current RW situation there. I am unsure how long it will take for them to restore control, but it is unlikely that it will be too long.

And for those claiming TWO is teetering, remember Spain is currently un-involved with active wars, even in Canada, and can therefore move in to restore control elsewhere, and the UK also sits ready to lend damage and active mobile units to move to Polish and Serbian RW's. No, this war is unlikely to result in any substantial failures for TWO while they fight Russia alone.

As for China, well, thats another matter entirely...
