Jon Malcom

Recently Jon Malcom started asking for RL photos of eRepublik citizens, the few he got were recently published as RL Pics of Phoenix Quinn, Cstarlight, Thedillpickle and Your Peony Express!; I was very impressed with my fellow citizens -except that I think there might be a ringer in there somewhere. As I read the article I decided that I would send Jon my picture also, sad to say I have not taken a picture since 2007 in my daughters back yard; where does the time go.... Anyway, I sent it and Jon answered and as I was answering him it dawned on me, call it an epiphany if you're kind -plagiarism if you must; the recent elections have been based overwhelmingly on integrity and honor. My belief is that the persona you project here in the new world can not be disgust from your RL persona in many ways, lots of citizens have spoken against that idea; but lend me your eyes for a few moments and maybe I can prove my point.

Dru Blood

...and when Plato makes you a citizen one of the first things any good ‘meta-gamer’ would do is create an Avatar; no good ‘role-player’ would be without one; it would be like wearing the ‘Kings new clothing’ in front of the whole world. I FN love Avatars and have had many in my internet life, they are like your calling card to new citizens and new friends in eRepublik both native and foreign; personally the more time a citizen put into thinking up his Avatar the more likely I am to friend them. Same for names, I like the ones that say something, like mine or Acacia Mason; my personal favorite being Chutley -funny dude and his Avatar reflects that trait. My Avatar is obviously Tim Roth -I am much better looking- and I hope by now my reasons are clear to all, however just in case; Tim was my pick because of the show ‘Lie to Me’ and his characters dogged tenacity for the truth. My name is actually my youngest nephews first name and my oldest nephews last name (I know cool, right?), but was a perfect fit for the editor of the ‘TRTH HRTZ’ newsfeed. There are many many excellent Avatars and names in the new world, and a good name or Avatar is enough to elicit a friend request.

Acacia Mason

I mentioned my frienemy Acacia Mason -be sure to catch Northern Exposure- a few lines ago for a reason, this is an Avatar that while being very cool, is an Avatar that in most cases would have caused me to shy away. Acacia is a Canadian who immigrated to America on the coattails of Political friendships, his choice of Harvey Dent is a very cool choice primarily because the comix character was a Politician who at first is Honorable; but by the end is two faced. Above we see the evolution of his look, first as a Canadian coming to America (pun intended) and then as a proud American; there is only one thing common in both -Harvey Dent and his belief in himself. When Acacia came here I opposed him for Congress, solely on the basis that he was new to America and his Avatar was a two faced Politician; however Acacia has proven to be a good American -as far as I know cause I couldn’t see what he did in Congress. MO was that Acacia had picked Harvey and joined the AMP because he was a Pfeifferist, however from his public persona Acacia has reversed the role; he has gone from bad to good. Acacia was also my choice to analyze because although he belongs to a party who IMO has USWP leanings I believe him to not be a Pfeifferist -in the truest sense of the word anyway. In the end Acacia created a persona who I felt was at least criminal and untrustworthy making it into a positive, as far as I can tell he has worked hard to be a loyal American and to work for our Nations betterment; he has in essence changed my view of his persona.

Back to the point of this article. I choose Tim Roth because I believe in the truth, in honor and strength of character, Dru Blood was a tiny tribute to my nephews and symbolic of the fact that sometimes the truth hurts; all are beliefs I hold in real life. eRepublik is a first of its kind Social Role Playing Life Game, it has been churning in my brain and I have decided that it can’t be a social game in the truest sense unless you know the citizen behind the Avatar; since I have stated I am for truth, honor and strength of character I have decided to say hello to the New World. Many citizens have pointed out lately that there are real people behind these Avatars and ‘meta-personas’ and they have real feelings, I could not agree more with that statement and is one of the reasons behind my unveiling; when a citizen sees my Avatar from this day forward they will see that grizzly old ex-soldier who loves to play a loud mouth drunk in a browser game. Many ‘metagamers’ keep pointing out that eRepublik is not a ‘roleplaying’ game, I disagree wholeheartedly because eRepublik is the logical extension to pencil and paper games like Traveller ; one of the greatest social games of them all. The biggest difference in eRepublik and Traveller? In eRepublik you sit in front of a cold glowing monitor interacting with an Avatar, in Traveller you sat across from the other ‘citizens’ and you put a face with the persona. So here I am in all my glory -with bourbon near, putting a face to Dru Blood the local drunk; and encouraging every citizen of eRepublik to do the same. Come out, Come out whoever you are....

Bartender, Kentucky Bourbon, neat...

I am Dru Blood and I may be crazy, but I’m just saying....
I blame it all on T-Ball...!
