[AV4CP] Diplomacy Wins

Day 1,954, 05:41 Published in India Canada by Alias Vision

Greetings India and International readers,

This is my first campaign article for the April CP election in India. And for this first article, why not jump right into it with both feet firmly together!

I chose to speak to you today about Diplomacy in general and Foreign Affairs in particular. After all, any new Indian Government will have a sizable diplomatic challenge in the months to come. Simply put, there are things that India can do on her own but there are a lot more things that will require assistance.

Macro Alliance Building.

First of all, with any discussion on the state of Indian diplomatic relations, we need a little perspective. It is a certainty that the recent decision by CoT not to accept India was a difficult one that put us in a very challenging position. Some would like to argue that this represents a complete failure and that India is obligated to pursue a different path.

Not so. A single country voted no. That means a whole lot of other countries that voted yes and a whole lot of other countries with a measure of goodwill towards us.

Goodwill is our coin in trade here. Until you build the momentum necessarily to affect realpolitik change, the only thing you have to move forward on is goodwill. It can be used to show that you are a good ally and that you are worth fighting for. It is also the basis for compromise when that is necessary.

Macro alliance building refers to the game of nations. It refers to MPPs with various countries. It is the backbone on which Foreign Affairs is directed.

A Government led by me would seek to continue to grow our relationships with current CoT membership and to figure out with them how we can be of assistance.

A Government led by me would not seek membership in another new alliance. Recently we left Eden and asked to join CoT. We can't have it all and we can't pursue it all. One of the most important things that alliance leaders look for is how committed a potential member is. If India was friendly with every alliance what would be the motivation for any of them to accept us? It is an obvious truth that competing alliances have competing priorities. If you try to be friends with everyone, invariably you will run afoul of someone's interests and the whole message starts to crumble and fail.

The CoT vote failed by a single vote, if India decides to casually approach diplomatic ties at this time... the next vote will be very different and we can almost guarantee more than one voice on the nay side.

If you elect me on April 5th, your new Foreign Affairs team would prioritize each country based on their traditional friendships with us, the help they can provide us in battle and future potential between us. We would also strongly pursue talks with currently neutral countries. We need to see Argentina, Brazil and Russia, for instance, as opportunities.

Finally, we would engage our enemies and those opposed to us in talks as well. This is simply a matter of never closing the lines of communication completely. I would rather, and respect, you telling me to my face that your intentions are to destroy rather than get trapped by misunderstanding and innuendo. Also, if any position is to change in the future, it starts with these types of talks.

Micro Alliance Building.

Micro alliance building refers to the process of engaging individuals and MUs into cooperating with you.

Most think of diplomacy only in terms of MPPs but the truth is that there is a lot more potential influence to be found in individuals and MUs. The trouble is that it requires a lot more work and a lot more talk to secure.

Just like a Government led by me would prioritize countries to get in talks with, we would prioritize MUs and individuals to approach.

You will hear talk in this campaign about how it would be best to get 100% support of a smaller nation vs. 10% support (or less) of a bigger one. This is a populist argument and will win you no war. The right answer is that you should seek the highest sustainable level of influence support wherever that is found. And it just so happens that although you will never receive 100% of any country no matter how big or small, you may receive 100% support from a MU or individual.

The future Indian Government needs to be in the business of winning wars. That means raw numbers for today, tomorrow and the future. The means targeting where the influence is and talking to see if you can bring them onboard.

Foreign Affairs needs you.

If you have the time and will to dedicate to building diplomatic ties, my campaign needs you. If what you read above appeals to you and you agree with the approach, my campaign needs you.

In my declaration of intent I was asked if there would be room for new players in a Government led by me. I will not discriminate on age but only on time and desire. Show me you want to be part of this project to build a stronger India and I will find a place for you.

Thank you
