[Asgard HQ] News and interview with Kain Propan

Day 1,947, 09:39 Published in Sweden Romania by Asgard HQ

In this article we will briefly go through most important news from Asgard, and then we also have the first interview from HQ with Kain Propan.

Outside Asgard we have recently learned, that Ireland has decided to join CUA alliance, eventhough they were pressured by both Spain and the UK. Read whole story here.

Croatia seems to be in an interesting situation. They are voting on leaving EDEN, and also impeaching their president. None of the votes seems to ge going through though.

Canada finally became a full member of Asgard. Sweden and Finland were unanimous about it, and there was no question about it. Canada continues its good participation in HQ, and has showed good example by informing HQ well ahead about their war plans.

Finland attacked Estonia to drain damage from other battles. Finnish national level politics seem to be in distress, but in the meanwhile dictator WP Attak has made some improvements in foreign matters.

Norway is still struggling with information and participation in HQ matters.
Clarification: Norway has followed HQ orders to the letter. The statement above is referring to the activity in Asgard HQ channel.

Sweden is battling tough enemies, and Asgard has been focusing in them a lot lately. In HQ Sweden continues its great efforts.

Interview with Kain Propan, HQ member, Sweden

1. Tell me about yourself: What is your career in Sweden?

I’m not one of the types that write down every single minister post or position I’ve had on my profile page. Could have been handy to have one of those now I guess since I really can’t remember any specific but I guess I can talk about my career here in Sweden a little more in general.

I moved from the UK to Sweden late 2011. My plan was to slowly retire or at least heavily decrease the amount of time I spent on the game. As a good citizen though I still wanted to become familiar with the community over here so I made an account on the forums and got to know some new people. Things didn’t really go as I had planned though and I rather quickly got elected to congress. Can’t remember exactly when I became a members of Government for the first time but my party started winning the CP elections at the beginning of 2012 and since I, despite my initial plan to retire/step down, was one of the really active players and the kind of player that wasn’t afraid to express my opinion I was rewarded with a spot in the Swedish Military HQ which I’ve been a frequent member of ever since. That later led me to various minister posts and assignments within the different ministries, mostly within the military and foreign affairs.

The past half year or so I’ve declined almost all, if not all minister jobs and only agreed to become presidential advisor together with being a Swedish representative in Asgard. That’s pretty much where I’m at now.

2. How long have you been in Asgard HQ?

From the creation of Asgard till today with the exception of 1-2 months or so.

3. How did you end up in the HQ?

I was one of the people from Sweden who took part in creating Asgard together with Finnish and Norwegian representatives. It was only natural that I would be one of the Swedish representatives in HQ.

4. Would you be interested in becoming Supreme Commander, and what kind of a role do you think SC should have in Asgard?

Perhaps, though it’s not really my type of job. I’ve never liked being the “public face”, which is why I’ve never ran for President.

I’m not quite sure of what role the SC should have though I have to say that the way it is used today seems to work out really well. Still I’d like to see it a bit more in action to be able to determine what kind of role we should have for it.

5. In your own opinion, how has Asgard managed?

Better than the expectations I had I have to say, and my expectations were pretty high. Despite most of the members being wiped for quite some time there has never been any whining or doubt from any of our members. It was a fear I had but they simply never became real which really shows what a great set of countries we have. Self sacrifice and sisterhood (Brotherhoods seem to fail more often than not) are really key to all nations in Asgard and something I have to say makes us unique.

We currently have two trial members that I’m really happy about. Since Norway was part of the creation of Asgard they basically always had a seat waiting for them till the day they broke free from the EDEN clutches. That Canada wanted to join was somewhat of a surprise to me but I am glad that they decided they wanted to become Assguards. Unlike with Finland and Sweden, Canada shared no borders to the other member nations nor did we share any common neighbours (something which changed when Norway became a trial member) which could be seen as somewhat problematic. Cooperation has however, despite the past months setback, worked really well.

Finland and Sweden will soon vote about Canadian membership and from what I understand they have huge support in both Finland and Sweden. I sure know what I’ll be voting.

6. Asgard HQ operates on IRC and with in-game messages, so it's not that visible to regular citizens. How would you describe HQ to the people? What does HQ do in a normal day?

I really like our HQ. It is quite small compared to the usual alliance HQs I’ve seen and that is something I think really benefit us. There is room for everyone to make their voices heard whenever they wish. It’s easy to get to know the people in there and become a part of the group, unless your name is Kamrat Ankan of course. There is room for both serious discussion and joking around. Though this is from our public channel it can sometimes look the same in Asgard HQ.

It’s not this typical ONE/TWO HQ channel with about 50 people where the same 3-4 people talk all the time with the exception of the random Estonians and Latvians spamming “OMG HELP ESTONIA VS FINLAND PLEASE!!! http://www.erepublik.com/en/military/battlefield/35252 ” or “OMG FIGHT FOR LATVIA, PLEASE POLAND, SWEDEN IS WIPING US!1!”.

Thank you Kain for the interview. And thank you all for reading.
