[APP] Party President for June/July

Day 2,030, 03:15 Published in Australia Australia by Paul J Keating

I would like another opportunity to lead APP for June/July. I have posted my platform in the APP private forum however I'd also like to make a public commitment for those members who do not use the forum and for potential members.

In May/June I made the following commitments in this article:

1. Work to increase activity

I have used primarily used in-game PMs to communicate with members as it was clear from the start that forums are under-used. I still believe the forums are essential but you've got to go where the people are. I feel I've done my best to improve activity within the party though it is nowhere near what I'd hoped to achieve. I've seen article vote counts increase significantly and through media activity I believe our profile as a party has improved within the wider community.

2. Work with a leadership team

One of the first things I did was establish a leadership team and I thank supereviloverlord, venja and st0ly for putting their hands up. With both PP and vPP granted forum and membergroup moderation we were better able to manage the forum. Where I believe I failed was in providing sufficient direction and leadership to the team, something I would aim to rectify by providing a kind of 'job description'.

3. Increase congress vote

We did narrowly increase our congress vote from 12.21% to 13.16% though the increase is so small it could be considered stable. In hindsight my effort to promote congress candidates was insufficient and I'd like to get the leadership team more involved in managing congress elections.

4. Put APP at the centre of the presidential campaign

The APP took a central role in the Country President campaign. Our CP primaries forum was opened early and despite a little controversy all candidates presented their case, and all citizens had the opportunity to ask questions of the candidates and assess their relative merits. Our supported candidate was unsuccessful but the process could not be faulted.

5. Policy development

Not much happened here unfortunately. This is another area where I feel I need to engage the leadership team and the members more effectively.

6. Membership

I made no promises of increasing membership, I believe that laying a good foundation by building the public profile and reputation of the party will in the longer term lead to sustainable growth. I believe we have started that journey and I'd like to continue to lead us along that path for another month.

Thanks everyone for your support, and I offer my services as a member of the leadership team to any other candidates should I be unsuccessful.

APP rules!
