Can we shift the focus?

A Hero Will Rise

eIndia's Alector has written an interesting article, shedding light on the CTRL alliance, its genesis & recent development. I think it's fair to say that, given the public disruptions & resulting outrage which occurred during its planning stages, the odds of CTRL being given a fair chance were slim to none.

On the other hand, despite being born out of an equally public & divisive conflict, the players involved in the development of CoT & its satellite alliance have had much greater success.

With very little else in the game to concentrate on, it's not surprising that alliances have taken centre stage. Recently, I saw a Colombian player asking for informal feedback, regarding a Continental alliance. I myself have been promoting a fictitious SEA alliance for awhile now. 😛

If we were to divide the eWorld up along real life cultural lines, it would look a lot like this.

Or we could try to divide it along real life ethnic lines, in which case it would look something like this.

I would like to see battles determined by alliances divided regionally vs the current system, which due to the nature of the game, unfortunately often revolve around real life issues. I think that if a regional system was feasible, the game might evolve into one in which the emphasis would be on dynamic, team based play vs the tired teams that we recycle through now.

If it would spark a truly competitive spirit, bringing players together who would normally be opponents, then that might even lead to a break through in some real life barriers! I've given no thought at all as to what the repercussions would be, from an economic or political point of view.

So with that in mind, using this regional map, I tried to see what it might look like. With a total disregard for game mechanics & for anyone's feelings, I divided the world into 4 regions. 😮

Region 1 - North & South America

Region 2 - Australia, Oceania & Asia

Region 3 - Middle East & Africa

Region 4 – Europe

Then suddenly like a miracle, two alliances were born! 😮

That's right! I say the whole eWorld gangs up on Europe! So what if they still outnumber us? They can't all be online at the same time, or can they? 😒 Never mind, it doesn't matter! They have to sleep sometime & we'll take them in waves, across all time zones, into next days even. They'll be so confused, they won't know what day it is. They'll cave, I know it! 😃

That or they'll beat the living daylights out of us & we'll have to listen to Romper endlessly saying how he knew that it was infantile to refer to Poland as Loland every single chance he could possibly get but that it was his special strategy because he anticipated this alliance & he wanted to make sure that they were good & fighting angry... for the cause. *.*

Now go forth & remember! Today you've witnessed the genesis of polarized alliances, destined to be in continuous mortal combat until the end of eRep time, the multisyllabic NSAAOAMEA vs the unique E. 😉

Let the battles begin! Surely a hero will rise...

All of that data just sitting there, waiting to be used by someone who knows how.
