מתן התחיל לשחק בתקופת הבטא והכיבוש הטורקי, לאחר מספר חודשים הפסיק לשחק לכמה חודשים ואז חזר מתוך כוונה להיות יותר מעורב ופעיל. כאשר הנשיא לשעבר גאווין וואקס החליט לרוץ הציע לו מתן את עזרתו והוא הסכים. למרות שגאווין לא נבחר הפך מתן להיות חלק אינטגראלי במפלגת UZP והיה לו חלק קריטי בהפיכתה למפלגה הגדולה ביותר בישראל. בהמשך הפך להיות ח"כ (דבר שעשה חמש פעמים במהלך חייו הוירטואליים) ונהייה לנשיא הישראלי הראשון של UZP וביחד עם דין מיכאלי הוביל לאיחוד שתי המפלגות החזקות ביותר של ישראל: שלום וUZP (המפלגה הציונית המאוחדת) מה שייצר את ישראל תחילה של היום. מעבר לתפקידים אלו שירת בצבא מספר פעמים וברובם היה קצין. היה שר ביטחון מספר פעמים, סגן נשיא פעם אחת ובחודש אפריל היה הנשיא.

איך ניסית לשפר את המצב הכלכלי בזמן כהונתך?
במהלך הכהונה שלי ניסינו להגדיל את המאזן הכלכלי של ישראל דבר שקצת "נדפק" בגלל שתי מלחמות. הצלחנו קצת, לא הרבה. משרד האוצר התחיל להשתמש במט"ח על מנת להגדיל את התקציב אך בגלל המלחמות שדרושות הרבה כסף לבריתות ואספקה לחיילים לא הגדלנו בצורה רצינית את התקציב ובזמנים מסוימים היו גם הפסדים כספיים.


מהי הסיבה שכהונתך לא הייתה מוצלחת?
הסיבה לכך שכהונתי לא הייתה מוצלחת היא משום שלא הייתי מספיק פעיל מכל מיני סיבות אישיות.
(אני יכול להבין את מתן. יש חיים מחוץ למשחק. למרות שהוא היה צריך להיות פעיל קצת יותר, אני מזדהה איתו.)


מה היה הדבר שיכולת להגיד שהצלחת בו בכהונתך?
קודם כל הקמתי את משרד החינוך מחדש והוא הצליח יפה. חוץ מזה מבחינת יחסי החוץ התקרבנו מאוד למדינות רבות בעדן במיוחד לבולגריה שחודש לפני זה לא היה לנו יחסים איתם בכלל. הקדנציה שלי היא בהחלט תהיה אחת הסיבות להצטרפות ישראל בעתיד לעדן. חוץ מזה, גם היחסים שלנו עם המועצה הערבית השתפרו תודות לקדנציה שלי. במהלך הקדנציה שלי גם ניהלנו מבצע מאוד מוצלח בבולגריה, שחיזק את הקשרים עם עדן והוכיח לנו שיש לנו צבא מאורגן ולא רע בכלל.


מהם הדברים שכשלת בהם?
נהיה מלא בלגאן בארץ .זה הסתדר בסוף החודש אבל היו המון ריבים (הם לא התחילו ממני). ריבים בין הממשלה לאזרחים מסוימים. למשל רהיין רב איתי כי אני מסמכותי כנשיא החלטתי לפטר אותו, מסיבותיי ההגיוניות שלי. דניאל רב איתי ואני לא מוצא סיבה לריב הזה ולמה הוא החליט לריב איתי. הוא טען מההתחלה שאני לא פעיל ולא ראוי לנשיאות. במהלך החודש באמת נהייתי לא פעיל מסיבות אישיות. אבל הוא המשיך וממשיך להשמיץ אותי. אבל אני לא מחזיר לו יותר, פשוט מעלם ממנו. אנשים כבר קלטו מי הוא. למרות זאת אני לא פוסל אפשרות ליישר את ההדורים עם דניאל כדי שנוכל לעבוד ביחד בעתיד וכדי למנוע ספאם מיותר בכתבות, בפורומים ובצ'אט .מעבר לזה, המלחמה נגד האיחוד לא הייתה מאורגנת מספיק ואני לוקח על זה אחריות כי אני הייתי המפקד של המלחמה הזאת.


במה אתה עוסק בימים אלו?
בימים אלו אני מקדם רפורמה בנושא של צה"ל שתוכל לעזור לצבא שלנו להפוך לפעיל ויעיל הרבה יותר מבחינת מספר דברים שלא נפרט עליהם כרגע. בנוסף מוניתי לדרגת אלוף בצה"ל על מנת לעזור בארגון המלחמה ושמירה על הסדר בצה"ל וכמובן בקידום והכנת הרפורמה שהצעתי. כרגע אני בעיקר מתעסק בזה ובלקרוע לטורקים את הצורה 🙂


למה לא התפטרת מהנשיאות אם לא היית פעיל מספיק?
לא התפטרתי מהנשיאות כי נהייתי לא פעיל כ"כ רק בחצי השני של הקדנציה. בחצי הראשון הייתי פעיל ואחרי שבועיים הורדתי פעילות מסיבות אישיות כמו שאמרתי.
יש שאומרים שלא התפטרתי כדי שדניאל לא יהיה נשיא וזה לא נכון בכלל, לא התפטרתי כי אחרי חצי קדנציה הקבינט היה באמצע עבודה של כל מיני דברים בנושאי הכלכלה והחוץ ואסור לקטוע את זה באמצע ואם הייתי מתפטר זה היה נקטע כי הקבינט היה משתנה ואם לא כולו אז רובו וזה היה עוצר את ההתקדמות המדינית שלנו עם עדן בצורה קשה ולא יכולתי לוותר על זה.


במבט לאחור, אתה מצטער על הקדנציה שלך?
כן ולא. מצד אחד היו דברים טובים שעשיתי בקדנציה שלי וכבר פירטתי עליהם אבל מצד שני חוסר הפעילות שלי בחצי השני של הקדנציה והריבים שנוצרו סביב הקדנציה שלי פגעו בי ובמוניטין שלי בצורה קשה. אני לא יודע מה רוב האנשים במדינה חושבים אבל לפחות רוב מקבלי ההחלטות לא סומכים עליי כרגע ויש חלק שגם מנסה להתקיל אותי.

Matan started playing the time of the beta version and the Turkish occupation and stopped playing after several months, then came back with the intention of being more active and involved. When former president Gavin Wac decided to run, Matan offered his help and Gavin agreed. Even though Gavin was not elected, Matan became an integral part of the UZP party and had a critical role in it becoming the biggest party in eIsrael. Later on, he became a Knesset member (something he achieved 5 times during his virtual life) and became the first Israeli president of UZP. Along with Din Michaeli, he led to unifying the two strongest parties of Israel, 'Shalom” and UZP (United Zionist Party) in what created today's “Isarel First” party. Besides this political roles, he also served in the Israeli Army in several tenures, most as an officer. He was the MoD several times, VP once and in April, he became the country's president.



The Interview :

How did you try to improve the finacial situation during your term?
During my term, we tried to improve and raise Israel financial balance, which was a little “screwed” because of two wars. We succeeded a bit, not much. The MoF started using foreign currency to increase the budget, but because of the wars, that require a lot of money for alliances and MPP's and for supplies to the troops, we couldn't increase the budget seriously, and at times we even had monetary loses.


What is the reason that your term was not a successful one?
The reason it wasn't successful, is because I wasn't active enough due to many personal reasons.
(I can understand Matan. There's life outside of the game. Even though he should have been more active, I can relate to him.)


What was the thing you can say you were successful during your term?
For starters, I founded the Ministry of Education, and it succeeded nicely. Besides that, in terms of foreign affairs, we became close with many countries of EDEN, especially Bulgaria, whom we didn't have any sort of relations with just a month before. My term is definitely one of the reasons Israel will join EDEN someday. Furthermore, our relations with the Arab council also improved, thanks to my presidency. During my term, we also conducted a very successful operation in Bulgaria, that greatly strengthened our relationship with EDEN and proved we have a pretty good and well organized army.


What were the areas you failed in?
There was a large mess in the country. It worked out by the end of the month, but there were many fights (those weren't started by me). Fights between the government and certain civilians. For example, Rhein fought with me because I decided to fire him from my own logical reasons, as per my authority as CP. Daniel fought with me, and I can't find any reason for this fight or why he fought me. He claimed from the beginning that I'm inactive and don't deserve the presidency. During that month, I really did become inactive, due to personal reasons, but he kept going and still slanders me. I don't answer back anymore, just ignore him. People already got who he is. Despite that, I don't rule out straightening things out with Daniel so that we can work together in the future and to prevent unnecessary spam in articles, forums and chat. Beyond that, the war against UAE was disorganized and I assume responsibility for it as the commander of that war.


What do you do these days?
This days I'm a reform in the IDF that could help our army become more active and more effective in terms of a couple of things we won't elaborate at the moment. In addition, I was named Aluf of eIDF, to help organize the war and keep eIDF organized. Also, to promote and prepare my suggested reform. Right now, I'm focusing on kicking Turkish ass 🙂.


What didn't you resign as president when you weren't active enough?
I didn't resign as president because I only became inactive during the second half of my term. I was active in the first half, and the lowered my activity level, due to personal reasons, as I already said.
Some say I didn't quit so that Daniel wouldn't become president but that isn't true at all, I didn't quit in mid-term, because by that time, the cabinet was in the middle of working on certain financial and foreign affairs, that I couldn't interrupt. If I would've quit, then it would have been interrupted, because our cabinet would've changed, in part if not completely and it would've halted our political progress with EDEN severely, and I couldn't allow that.


Looking back, to you regret your term?
Yes and no. On the one hand, there were many good things I've done in my term, that I already discussed, but on the other hand my lack of activity in the second half of my term and the fights revolving around my term, greatly hurt me and my reputation. I don't know what most of the people in the country think, but at least most of the decision-makers don't trust me right now and some even try to make it more difficult for me.
