'Free' Training Centre Upgrade: Guide for the Warrior Cheapskate

Day 1,560, 07:02 Published in Canada Canada by Plugson

This article is an 'addendum' to the first Warrior Cheapskate Guide:
"'Thanks, But No Tanks' - A Guide for the Warrior Cheapskate"
(sadly the old GttWC is a bit rough around the edges due to all the game tinkering, yet the principles remain the same:
Play the game, find an edge, save money, be the tortoise)

Cap'n Plug says, "Old players like us didn't get this far on the 'roids."

Okay, so the next trick up the admin's sleeve is on the table. I won’t even go into how this erodes the gameplay/competitiveness of cheapskates like me who don’t invest RL money into eRepublik.

However, it was a not-so-well-kept cheapskate secret that buying the 0.19 Gold Climbing Tower booster was a good way to get your money back.

Why? The 2.5 Strength bonus would earn you a 5 Gold Super Soldier medal faster and basically pay for itself.

Read it here for more explanation: “You Should Use 0.19 Gold Training Every Day. Here’s Why
"Since it takes 250 strength for a Super Soldier medal, you'll get a SS medal every 24 days. During that 24 days, you'll spend 4.56 gold on training. The SS medal gives you 5 gold."
(Plugson's comment: acutally, it's 18 days, with the bonuses, but as you can see, the 0.19 Gold Booster paid for itself, with profit)

Hmmm, but now we have upgradeable training grounds at 20 Gold each. Does this change things?

Yes.

My cheapskate suggestion:
STOP PAYING FOR TRAINING NOW

Save your 0.19 Gold daily strength investment and accumulate it for a 20 Gold upgrade of your main training center. It gives you the best upgrading boost (from 5 up to 10 strength) and it’s FREE when you want to use it later.
The best investments are the ones that require no additional upkeep to maintain, so it is a good opportunity.

In fact, it is the best and most necessary upgrade in eRep right now. Strength is a must to keep up with the pack and 5 more ‘free’ strength (with a moderate down payment) is more than a must.

Here’s what happens in you save now:
-5 Strength per day
-1 Bonus per day
-5 Bonus after 5 days

=47 strength/week with no Gold (leaving out NE bonus)
or
= 5 Weeks and 2 days for a natural SS medal
+ You have at least 10 Gold save from SS and HW medals

So, in 10 weeks and 4 days (but faster if you accumulate Gold by selling RM) you will have enough to upgrade your basic Training Centre.

Then it will look like this:
+10 Strength per day
+1 Bonus per day
+5 Bonus after 5 days
=57 strength/week with no Gold (leaving out NE bonus)
or
= 4 Weeks and 2 days for a natural SS medal

You take off a WHOLE WEEK to earn your next SS.
I could do the math but I would only be boring you and stating the obvious, but you will quickly catch up to another cheapskate using the 0.19 Gold training booster who never saved up his Gold for the upgrade.

Stop paying for training today. Upgrade you main Training Centre with 20 Gold. Then save your Gold and do the same for your 0.19 Gold Climbing Center.

Once you do that, you'll be getting 16 Strength a day for only 0.19 Gold.
That's 45% better than 11 Strength a day now for 0.19 Gold.

+10 Strength from upgraded Training Center
+5 Strength from upgraded Climbing Center
+1 Strength daily bonus
+5 Strength for 5 day bonus
_____________________________
= 117 Strength/Week for 0.19 Gold
or
= SS Medal in 2 weeks and 2 days
You will spend 3 Gold and receive 5 Gold. That's an extra 2 Gold profit every 2 weeks.
(not to mention the extra 120 strength, too!)

Your 2 Training/Climbing Center upgrades will pay for themselves in the long run.
You will catch up by saving your 0.19 now and investing it wisely.

It’s the new Path of Glory for the Warrior Cheapskate.

Be the Tortoise. What the Hare doesn't know is that Admins keep moving the finish line further ahead of us with each 'upgrade.' You can't win a race on a sliding scale.
