Time for Peace?

Day 2,352, 14:54 Published in USA USA by Bucephalus92

Greetings bros,

Recently I have been finding myself more and more interested in putting our articles in this silly little game we all play. For what reason I really have no idea, unfortunately up until this week I have had far too many constraints on my time to do so and won't again after this week for quite some time. Rather than lament this fact I am instead going to take some advice from Gandalf and focus more on how I use the time I am given.

Nerd cred +1000

Another thought I have had recently is what sort of things I would like to see being done in erepublik. Long time subscribers of my paper will be well aware that I have always been a fan of the use of narrative to give this game of numbers and pixels a little meaning...and a little fun. At the time I published that article the US was consumed with fighting off a huge PTO threat and navigating a volatile eWorld in regards to foreign affairs. However, times have changed.

RGR has clearly been taking lessons from this kid

By no means am I suggesting that the PTO is not worth devoting attention towards, however I do believe that it has been reduced to a point where it should no longer be our only focus. At least not at the expense of other things. Nor do we have the same issues regarding foreign affairs now as we did then. We are in a stable alliance that is roughly equal with those opposing us. With the restructuring of the USAF improving the effectiveness of our military and our domestic and foreign agendas stable the time may soon be ripe for us to once again sally forth and do great deeds, free the oppressed, or oppress our tyrannical enemies. There remains but one major hurdle preventing us from launching such an expedition. Canada.

I really don't agree with the way they do things, but even I have to admit these fu**ers are crazy in battle

I have no interest in going back over the events of the latest war between the United States and Canada. The subject has been talked to death, both sides have made mistakes. What I do want to discuss however, is how we move forward. So long as the balance of power between the two main alliances is roughly the same, and so long as Canada is willing to be a pain in our a$$ the United States will be unable to do anything truly of note. Rather we will spend our time fighting to keep our bonuses, with any attempt to do something else continually hampered by Serbian supported Canadian resistance wars. This rings true for the Canadians as well, I'd imagine fighting in the same RW's consistently is much less interesting than what they could be doing. I am not interested in fighting in pointless resistance wars when they can be avoided.

What is the point of these battles anyway?

It is for this reason that I believe it is in the best interest of the United States and Canada to reach a peaceful conclusion to our conflict. Preferably such a conclusion would result in a reasonable region renting deal that would be beneficial to both parties, allowing the United States to maintain its bonuses as well as providing Canada with an additional source of income to replenish the reserves they have spent in their war against us. In this way we can avoid fighting a meaningless war and go on to doing something a little more meaningful. Prominent eCanadian Muglack recently published an article that called for a deal between our two nations. While the comments makes it clear that reaching any sort of deal won't be quick or easy, the most important thing we can do is begin a dialogue.

Whoa

But what could be more meaningful than warring Canadians you ask? Aside from literally anything? Honestly, I'm much less concerned about that. I know what I would like to do but what matters to me more is that were doing something other than getting caught up in boring war that exists purely because we think the Canadians are dicks, and vice versa. As a suggestion, why not NE Portugal instead, free Venezuela and then use that position as a launching pad for a campaign to finally bring freedom to the people of Brozil? They have languished at the hands of the Argentinians for far too long and I believe a strong and coordinated campaign, rich in narrative, would be beneficial for all involved. However most importantly, I think it could be fun.
