POSTCARD FROM THE EDGE

Earlier this morning one of my congressional staffers brought in a stack of mail. As usual, it included a number of constituent letters requesting VIP passes for a Capitol visit and a few letters complaining about high taxes and other congressional issues. I stacked them on the side for the staff to weed through.

Stuck in the middle was a postcard from Hawai’i. Not knowing many people in Hawai’i, I turned it over to read who it was from.

The name Vic LeRailes sounded familiar. Then it hit me. Both Joe DaSmoe and Joe Newton had received similar postcards.

It was only yesterday that I ran into the Rebel Leader “C” in the street. I prepared to call Capitol security for fear that a connection like this could be deemed subversive behavior, but as I picked up the phone, a news story came on the television…



And that is how I learned of the demise of a friend…
