DoD - Clarification on recent events...

Day 2,401, 07:34 Published in Australia Australia by Australian Defence Department

Okay, there is a lot of confusion in eAustralia so let us get this clear for all you Aussies out there...

Why aren't we pushing in the current battles when we easily won them back a few days ago?

Right, when you occupy another nation the longer you hold those regions the more ''determination'' damage that the occupied nation builds up in each region, it is like a damage bonus designed to help nations that are occupied by hostile forces...such as ourselves. So to counter this Chile and FYROM released our regions a few days ago and then declared us a Natural enemy to reclaim them back and reset our Determination/damage bonus. Now this is what you are seeing at the minute, this isn't Aus suddenly becoming powerful...this is planning by Chile/FYROM to have an easy ride owning Australia for the next month. The truth is we are a very small nation occupied by three larger nations, if we liberated one region (Queensland for example) then either Chile would retake it straight away with a new natural enemy proposal or Indo/FYROM would just step in and take it, it's not a nice thought but it is the reality of the situation.

So why did we launch an airstrike when we have regions already?

Well the regions we currently held will be taken by Chile/FYROM in the next few days as they were resetting our determination bonus (see above), so that would mean another long month without a democratically elected senate and another long period whilst we wait for our determination bonus to grow in those occupied regions...it takes over a month for you to get some serious additional determination bonuses, well enough for us to stand a good fighting chance without a major allied push. The airstrike landed and now we can prepare for a future where we are at least on the eMap again.

Why was the public not told of this and kept in the dark?

The reason the airstrike was kept quiet was because Chile and Indonesia do not like Australia, fyrom also have issues with us and have lied to us recently...if they were to have learned of our plans beforehand they would have done something to stop us. hence why is was hushed up. We were also renting a region from Greek occupied Saudi Arabia...fyrom and Greece despise each other so we didn't want to give any hostile nation an excuse or time to stop us getting a senate for the people.

I want my original regions back, why should I be happy with a foreign base?

Don't be, we aren't asking you to be. But..BUT...without that region you will not have a production bonus on the amount of weapons Australians will now produce, you will not have active political parties, you will not have a democratically elected senate, you will not have Australia on the map in any way shape or form...and one thing happens in eRepublik that happens all over the globe - a country wiped for a long time loses members, workers, fighters and we have tried to counter this.

Why did you declare war on Indonesia and then Natural enemy Chile?

We have three enemies on our territory, now when chile released Queensland to begin resetting our Determination bonuses (see above) we realised we had a chance to launch an airstrike and get back on the map for the long term. Now when you declare war and propose a natural enemy on a nation as long as you do it before they do it to you...well, you get to choose the location, time and date of your attack on them. The vote takes 24 hours to pass, the game mechanics then allows you 24 hours to launch an attack or it does so automatically. So we took away Indonesia and Chile's right to attack us for at least 48 hours...and then of course you have the automatically launched battle that we launched upon them. In real terms we took two out of the three enemies we have out of the equation for almost three days which gave us enough time.

Was this a Dr Hugh/Sherlock/Claire Louise power trip?

This has been in the making for two and a half months, if anything instead of having to deal with no senate we now have a senate that can make the Government accountable so this is the opposite. We have a base surrounded by Greece a strong friend which should give us a senate for a long time...many senates worth hopefully. Judge for yourself when you are voting in the senate elections, especially when it would have been easier to operate without a senate as the CP is the only decision maker and has no accountability for the whole of his/her term.

I hope this clears a few things up, of course there will be a vocal element who will complain etc as they always do. My advice? Run for CP, volunteer for cabinet for once and put up or shut up...

We may have faced being wiped many times in our history, we may face many future hurdles but we will work together and pull through this as a strong community because your Government is investing in you.
