SO HOW DID ANZAC DAY GO FOR YOU THIS YEAR?

ANZAC Day is commemorated in Australia on 25th March each year.
To those from other countries who maybe do not know what ANZAC day is, it refers to the first major campaign Australian & New Zealand troops were involved in WWI. The Gallipoli Campaign, which as conceived would have quickly forced Turkey out of the war, opened up a supply line to Russia, and so brought a speedy end to the stalemate that was developing between the forces of the Allies & the Central Powers. It could even have stopped the hell of the following three years.
In actual fact, despite great heroism by all sides; decisive Turkish & woeful Allied leadership; and truly horrific casualties, all that was achieved was.... nothing.
ANZAC Day does not commemorate war, but all those who died and suffered in War lost & shattered lives & opportunities, in all wars.. That we maybe remember them, hold them in our hearts & say a prayer for them, and not forget the sacrifice.
As is spoken at the ceremonies, the lines from Kipling’s poem “Recessional” sums it all up.
The tumult and the shouting dies --
The Captains and the Kings depart --
Still stands Thine ancient sacrifice,
An humble and a contrite heart.
Lord God of Hosts, be with us yet,
Lest we forget -- lest we forget!
Where I live, In the morning the sky to the west was so dark & forboding, but in the east there was some blue sky & sun. But thunder kept rumbling all the time – eventually the sky closed in & everything took place in the rain – heavy or light depending. It seemed somehow fitting.
That was my ANZAC Day. Next year 100 years will have passed in that “War to end all Wars”. Yet Australia continues to be involved in wars, right up to the present
I usually do not write articles, I find it difficult. Why I am writing this, I wondered where were all the other articles?
ANZAC Day is a significant day for Australia – it could well be argued our most significant day, that in many ways defines who we are as a Nation.
And in eRep, the national community does tend to mirror real life.
Every year articles have been written – but not this year Why? To me it suggests there is a malaise in our in game community.
It cannot be down to the fact Australia is continuously occupied. That has always been our fate – all that has done in the past is just makes us fight harder & draws us together as a community.
No longer does this seem to be the case. One factor I can see is our forum it has been under attack maybe internally, certainly from external influences. The forums are eAustralia’s history. Once it goes it cannot be revived and so eAustralia will be diminished. & I certainly do not want to let that happen.
So I have offered to pay for our Forum to continue for another year and it would be good if our community supported it. If there are problems, they CAN and WILL be fixed.

You have proved your point that I am unbiased now that I am called for Bindas removal after two recent cases of admin abuse. Thank you.
This was the extent of your information regarding your accusation in an IM to me:

Since you deleted your forum account, it became impossible to ask further questions and gain further information to investigate the whole affair. She is correct though, a Support Ticket on the forums protects both parties as I told Claire, who seemed to take offence to the "Red Tape" because she has no idea of the previous issues involved that brought it on. Part of this would constituted possible Admin abuse, but with you deleting your account before bringing it to me, what exactly did you expect me to do?
I deleted my account but you know we spoke through PM's here so that surely isn't an issue?
Submitting tickets is fine but can you explain why tickets never have to be submitted after Senate elections? I never recall senate having to wait for access to be cleared by the admin submitting a ticket. same with CP elections. it always seems when Binda has had her rights downgraded...like when It was made public knowledge via the forums and in-game that she was no longer acting ADF Marshal and Claire was. It was announced by the CP but Binda refused to allow Claire mod rights and claimed tickets had to be submitted by Claire which took about a week, yet when i was vCP i got mod access instantly...way too soon for a ticket to be submitted by anyone and i never submitted one. it seems to be a pick and choose for her don't you think?
Also do you approve of a sacked Cabinet member access those private threads when she is an admin and should know better? She also refused to leave the cabinet IRC room until she was literally banned...hardly fitting behaviour.
The trouble is XG is that it keeps occurring even way before I came to eAus, the same person always involved. I used to defend her because i know other forums are bad but there comes a time where it becomes indefensible and it is happening too many times with too many examples for it to be just a vendetta.
I spent my day Honouring those that fought and created what has become known as the ANZAC Spirit and what keeps Aussies (RL ones anyway) together and remembering the utter stupidity and incompetence of English Generals.

As I am of English decent through and through, am a Monarchist and cherish my English decent and history, its a bit hard to be xenophobic by indicating a truth about the stupidity and incompetence of the English Generals running the Galipoli campaign that saw the landing of our troops in the wrong location, and the senseless loss of Australian Lives.
My great grandfather served alongside Australians at Hill 6o in Ypres, more English lives were lost by the ''utter stupidity and incompetence of English Generals'' than Australians by the way, including some of my family members. Shame you use a somber day for remembrance and appreciation to try to score cheap points. You are a disgrace to those who paid the ultimate sacrifice.
Grow up Hugh. You yourself just admitted in the stupidity of English Generals in your own post. I'm not talking about the average soldier, they did as they were told and acted upon the orders given and suffered the ultimate sacrifice. Being Ex-Military myself I know how it works. Times are different now and the system of war is different, that does not excuse the Imperial system of English General appointments back in the early 1900 and further back. Hell, during the Napoleonic wars and before the English General's and Officers paid for their commissions, they didn't need to have any clue of what they were doing. Learn some actual History.
You have been making an issue of me being a ''pom'' all day XG as well as making issues with me in three different articles now so please don't play innocent that this an innocent remark.
And yes the Generals were disgraceful with regards to the Gallipoli Campaign, the more I have read about it the more I do actually feel ashamed of my country's military history...likewise with the English ''inventing'' concentration camps in South Africa. But as i pointed out those incompetent fools created more deaths of British soldiers than Australians due to not having the correct military background just the correct 'breeding'. I am well aware of history thank you.
What country hasn't created Concentration camps during war time throughout History. The USA and Australia did it for the Japanese during world war 2. Its a way to stop foreign enemy nationals from causing issues. Is it right? who knows, but the logic that they may help their original nation in some way is certainly clear.

Everyone knows the British lost many lives Hugh,so did Australia , so did the Turks.

Nobody was making this a competition. I know from first hand experience the anger felt by people of Australia and New Zealand at the incompetence by the British towards ANZAC troops, I am pointing out that their anger should be focused on the ruling class who were ranked officers for no other reason than their birth and not the average Brit who themselves suffered at the hands of incompetence and do not pride ourselves in the events in Gallipoli for example.
Not the British, just the Generals. We fought for the "Empire" and where proud to do it.
The British generals incompetence directly affected British troops as well, they were sacrificed in huge numbers. Your point is well taken.
Yes, those officers who rose to high rank in the British army got their rank via the accident of their birth or by successfully winning battles against the totally outclassed & armed armies of countries that were taken over in the growing British empire.
Those officers risen to high rank could not cope with facing an enemy of similar size & technology to themselves.
Still ANZAC Day commemorates the loss of life - it should be a time for rememberance & reconciliation.

Not really correct, the British Army had a good few 'bleak' days long before that when we were trying to colonize the globe with the time old same incompetence upper class officers in charge. The Battle of Isandlwana during the Zulu war in 1879 being another perfect example where a modernised, well equipped and armed army was routed by a Zulu army armed with just spears and good tactics on the battlefield.
Anyway, when you do read the stories of Gallipoli especially it just leaves you speechless and makes you realise the pain, sacrifice and suffering they went through. I know people don't tend to prefer reading these days but there are some fantastic you-tube documentary that people really should watch.
