eCanada's Alliance Referendum

Day 1,874, 13:27 Published in Canada Canada by Wilhelm Gunter

The following is a part of a eCanadian CP Rylde's election platform, to hold a referendum on which Alliance eCanada should pursue.

Background

For months now, eCanada’s politicians have discussed how to pursue our Foreign Relations, particularly in regards to which alliance we should seek entrance into.

Since last spring, we have been without a formal alliance, having withdrawn from the European Defence and Economic Network (EDEN). We have largely maintained friendships and a pattern of Mutual Protection Pacts (MPP’s) with most EDEN members since then, though we have gone off the beaten path and signed an MPP with Indonesia, a historic enemy, for a short time this past summer.

The last couple of months has seen eCanada’s congresses and Presidents discuss and debate the merits and disadvantages of several alliances. Our politicians have discussed a return to EDEN, or joining a new one: TWO, Circle of Trust (CoT) and Asgard.

TWO members are: Poland, Hungary, Serbia, the UK, Slovenia, and Spain.

EDEN members are: Colombia, Argentina, Portugal, Croatia, Romania, Ukraine, Albania, Greece, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Israel, Cyprus, and China.

CoT members are: New Zealand, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Mexico, Chile, Paraguay, Belgium, Switzerland, Bulgaria, Republic of Moldova, FYROM (Macedonia), and Montenegro.

Asgard members are: Sweden and Finland (friendly with EDEN nations)

Note: All countries not shaded above are neutral (including eCanada), and those in black are not yet eRepublik nations.

This article will not provide arguments for or against any of the options. However, feel free in the comments section to persuade your fellow eCanadians to vote one way or the other. Or write your own articles and provide a link in the comments section.

Some helpful articles released in the last 10 days or so by eCanadians on the subject of alliances:

An eCanadian announcing an opinion poll on Asgard.

The results of that opinion poll.

Rylde, our current CP, and his take on Alliances.

Foxfire, our former CP, discusses alliances.

Specific Referendum Information:

Every eCanadian will be receiving a PM from me, Wilhelm Gunter, with a link to the Referendum questions, and everyone will be receiving a unique Security Code. You will be asked for your Citizen name and this Security Code before you vote for the alliance of your choice. This will prevent individuals from impersonating others and casting more than one vote, so please do NOT share your security code with anyone else!

Every eCanadian should receive a PM from me, by the end of today – Sunday January 6. The poll will be open for 48 hours (Monday & Tuesday) and I will then compile results on Wednesday.

In the event it takes me longer than anticipated to get all the PMs out before the end of today, everything will be pushed back a day – voting will continue until the end of Wednesday, with results released Thursday.

And finally, the main Referendum Question is:

Which eRepublik alliance would you like to see eCanada pursue membership in?

Three options will be presente😛 Asgard, CoT, or Remain Neutral.

So please consider your options carefully, and then cast your ballot.
