Dear exalted readers of the Groovy Gazette,
Recent events have been a mixed bag for EDEN/Terra. The situation in Asia and Eastern Europe looks brighter every day, while Western Europe wallows in fear. Is there a Beacon of Light in such a Bleak and Dreary world?
Oh you bet.
Here's where the situation's going down:
I think I'll just use this picture in all my war reports
1. The Invasion of Hungary
Croatia's seizure of western Hungary, and a long Bulgarian offensive, have brought Hungary down to a final stronghold in Western Slovakia. Hungary has never, ever been wiped before, and so this would be a significant blow to ONE. However, Hungary is too powerful to occupy for long, so they'll be back before you know it. But if Bulgaria and Croatia could somehow suppress Hungary for extended periods of time, then good opportunities are opened, like the liberation of northern Italy and Switzerland, conquering Austria and Slovakia, and confronting Poland once more. Poland is indeed coming to liberate Hungary through Ukraine, while Serbia is distracted in Western Europe. If Bulgaria is able to hold off Poland, while holding onto Hungary, that would be devastating to both countries, and give a boost to allies everywhere, especially those struggling against Serbia. A loss meanwhile, would nullify significant progress gained over such a long time.
2. The new Sino-Indonesian conflict
China has long desired a border with Indonesia, so as to remove their influence on Chinese allies like the Phillipines and Taiwain, and in order take on the only other great power in east Asia. Now they have it through Thailand, and are finally venting all their frutration at Indonesia. The opening battle in Southern Thailand a rout for China, but Indonesia only seems to fight 100% on their own turf. So when the Chinese invade Sumatra, we'll see whose stronger.
3. The Serbian Offensive
Serbia is in fantastic shape. They gave Switzerland back to Slovenia, but appear to have been permanently ceded Catalonia and Aragon from Spain. All in all, they look stronger than before, especially when they can bypass Croatia by way of Albania for access to the Mediterranean. They control their own fate in Western Europe, as they have the power to take France, Germany, the Netherlands, and whoever, or try invading USA again. The USA appears to have run out of hope against Serbia, and are down to Limousin, which may soon be given back to France. Serbia is now free to invade mainland USA (alone this time), or carve up France, which would be a huge loss to Terra.
...Hey yea! The Bastards of Liberty party can save us from all threat of certain destruction!....... Let's join it!
4. The British Isles
The French proved themselves to be good allies, as they took control of half of England, and have been the only allied power to maintain their occupation zone spotlessly. There has been more resistance in the North, where Ireland, and Canada are struggling to suppress the U.K. This theatre may soon be doomed if Serbia invades Northern France. So without support, the fabric of Western Europe may soon unravel.
5. Baltic Campaigns
Romania has been succesful in putting the majority of Baltic states under their control. Now that Romania is surrounded by allies, and an occupied Hungary, they are safe to focus on maintaining control of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. The loss of these three countries is a bigger loss to ONE than it appears, as they just churn out carnage. Accross the sea, Sweden appeared to be very near defeat, but they craftily cut off the Russian Invasion, to leave it in Finnish hands. Do you believe in Finland? I sure do.
6. The power change in West Asia
Turkey has succesfully wiped Iran, and has been awarded Balochistan (and maybe more Pakistan) by China. Turkey is in a position be very wealthy. Like oil-water parks, and pure gold toothpaste for every Turkish citizen wealthy. Turkey has been challenged to remove Macedonian forces from Arabia and Egypt by EDEN to prove their loyalty. I think they'll succeed if their up to the challenge, and be stuck with a huge empire and nothing to do but help allies.
In conclusion, don't stop playing this game until we win, America. We have good momentum in the rest of the world, and if we can be the chosen nation to defeat Serbia, I would be so pleased with you. If not for glory, do it for the sweet vengeance.
