Good Day and welcome to UK Today!

THE NEWS

Greetings and welcome to the latest issue of UK Today. As we discussed yesterday, the Canada NE has passed and they have proceeded to attack Mayo, a captured Irish territory.

Time will tell as to how these battles go, but it is safe to say that our success or failure will depend on two things- organisation and allied help. We have little control over the latter, but all have a hand in the former.

One great way to coordinate and maximise our damage is our armed forces. Below is a guide to the armed forces, what they're about, what they offer, and how to join. Well worth a read!

A Guide To The United Kingdom's Military Forces

Behind every eSuperpower is a well structured army. I'm glad to say that the virtual United Kingdom is no exception. Whether British Armed Forces battled for the territorial expansion, or defense of the original territories, structure, organization and most importantly every single soldier brought us to victory.

Structure

British armed forces are divided into several branches:

1. British Army
2. Royal Navy
3. Royal Air Force

(Together UKAF)

4. United Kingdom Special Forces
5. United Kingdom Elite Forces

(Together UKSF)

British Army

British Army is a mobile branch of the British Armed Forces, with two divisions: Delta Force and Ranger 6 Team. Current commander of the British Army is Kravenn, with JamesB009 and Dexomega as the Commanding Officers. British Army was formed on the 25 January 2010, and later in January 2011 it became a part of the Tri-Structure Armed forces with the Royal Air Force and Royal Navy. The official colors of the branch are Red and Gold, and if British Army is just what you're looking for you can join here.

Royal Navy

Royal Navy, first created in the late 2008 was the main and largest fighting force of the British Armed Forces. It was disbanded in 2010, but was re-created in January 2011, when it became the part of the Tri-Structure Army. It is divided in to two ships, Adventure Galley and Queen Anne's Revenge. Current Rear Admiral is Daniel Thorrold, and captains Herman Andersen and Louis Mountbatten. To join Royal Navy all you need to do is fill out this.

Royal Air Force

Royal Air Force is a mobile branch and a part of the Tri-Structure Army. It is comprised by three squadrons. Hellfire Falcons, Skybolt Kestrels and Tomhawk Buzzards. Air Vice Marshal of the RAF is Joe Rooke, and squad commanders are William Mountbatten, Sir Mic and and Lord Matthew Russell. It was re-created in January 2011, after it underwent major structural reform, and became a separate branch. It is now the biggest and the strongest branch in the Tri-Structure Army. To become an aircraftman fill out this form.

United Kingdom Special Forces

The UKSF is the special forces branch of the British Armed Forces. It is made of the hardest hitters in the UK, who are split in to two regiments: Special Air Service (SAS) and Special Boat Service (SBS). Commander of the UKSF is Bron Avery while the 2nd Commander is Sven Goran Duran-Duran. To qualify for the UKSF you must be capable of making a daily damage of 100.000 influence. Members of the UKSF get bigger supplies compared with the Army/Navy/RAF. If you think that you meet the criteria, feel free to apply here, and you will be automatically sorted in to UKSF.

United Kingdom Elite Forces

The United Kingdom Elite Forces, is the highest-damage unit of the British Armed Forces. It was formed in July 2011 and is made of soldiers from UKSF, which can provide an average 200.000 influence/day, and must have very high activity. Soldiers who consistently drop below the threshold are downgraded back to UKSF. Commander of the UKEF is Steeeev.

What is expected from you in the British Armed Forces?

- To work in the army companies (Unless you self-supply)
If you don't work in the assigned company, you won't receive supplies the next day.
- To visit the military hub daily, and follow orders
If you don't visit the hub, firstly you will be warned, and after that you will be discharged
- To be active on IRC
This is very important if you are a part of UKSF or UKEF.

What are you getting from the army?

- Supplies (Free Stuff \o/)
Army/Navy/RAF recives 320 health and 2 tanks. If you can supply yourself with food, you can choose only to receive 6 tanks a day. The UKSF receives 520 health or 9 tanks, if you make your own food, while UK Elite Force is only for the people who make their own food, and are supplied with 16 tanks.
When strikes are organized, there will be extra food and weapons to people available on the IRC.
- Great Community
Military is a great way to meet new people, talk just about everything and have a great time. Make sure you're registered on the forum where each regiment has it's own thread, and catch up with everyone on the IRC. Here's a few useful channels:

#euk - eRepublik United Kingdom official channel
#MoD - Ministry of Defence public channel.
#ukaf - UKAF private channel. (Requires granted access)
#uksf - UKSF private channel. (Requires granted access)

THE CP's UPDATE:

Lets start off with Ireland. Dublin was auto hit last night during a time of many important ONE battles. I wanted to hold off hitting dublin for as long as possible but it had to eventually open up. We didn't get off to a good start losing the first mini battle with some minor eden tanking getting in our way. During the night the battle was fairly close and I thought that we were going to lose it at one point only for a few UKers to start tanking to save our initiative. We eventually won 8-6 but lost out on the Wexford RW 8-6 also (We had Romper tanking at one point, fun stuff).

Since this afternoon the admins have fixed the law bugs and Canada have successfully hit Mayo. We're currently losing pretty badly at the time of writing, but this is because we put our allies ahead of this battle once again. I'm expecting to lose this battle bar some massive comeback out of nowhere. Don't worry though as they have yet to see the full force of our allies. Another RW has also opened up in Cork with us losing once again. I'm hoping that once the energy bar offer is over we'll see less EDEN/Croatia tanking soon. (As I mentioned Croatia, go look at them on the map. 0% Weapons bonus is pretty funny)

Onto other things, I have chosen Valorum to be my MoLA for the rest of this month after speaking to members of my cabinet and taking the advice from the outgoing MoLA. Valorum was the uMoLA and has had tons of experience as MoLA in the past so I'm sure he'll be great.

Daily Domestic Update:

- UK Today Released (Includes a bit of detail on the Military)
- Another Library article is being worked on
- Forum awards out fairly soon
