[CW] Platform for President of eCanada – Part Two: Foreign policy

“Now is the time to prove ourselves to our allies with a steeled conviction. Constantly trying to find the 'best deal' when conducting foreign policy portrays Canada as completely insincere, unreliable and uncommitted. This is not the behaviour of a fearless nation and it is not the the way of Canada

If EDEN is facing challenges now is precisely the time to show our worth. Good allies don't wait until everything is perfect so we can enjoy the fruit of other country's labours. No, we should be joining EDEN exactly when they are in need. What would you respect more? A friend that only sticks around when things are good? Or a friend that comes to you when you need them?”

One month ago, I wrote this in an article on foreign policy. It’s amazing how in an environment of constant change, some things never change.

The majority of the Canada populous continue to support an EDEN alliance. Yet, some representatives of those very same citizens claim to simply know better. What they know changes every time a country on the other side of the world takes a deep sigh, but regardless they still claim to know better.

An alliance is a relationship. It will have its ups and downs, its good times and bad. What is true of any relationship is true of a strong alliance. It is the dedication that will make it endure. It’s time to take a leap of faith and dedicate to the course that our current diplomatic relations already point us towards.

Currently we are an independent Pro-EDEN country. Although our independence grants us a freedom to not involve ourselves, it also excludes us from the international game of eRepublik. We have been playing it safe for far too long.

Where is our honour if we continue to cower in indecision? Why must our allies be the ones to hold the line while we half heartedly flip and flop searching for that perfect comfortable alliance that we can safely rest our head. We are a nation of warriors. I for one want a battlefield and a hard one fight in front of me. Not a cozy little rest home where we sleep under the shadow of other nations.

Let us plant our banner in the soil of EDEN and push on to greater glories. EDEN is not the end. It is the beginning. From there we will make ourselves known to the world and if it be a hard fight, let it be a glorious hard fight.

For honour.
