The Fall of a Dictator

Day 2,819, 09:36 Published in India Croatia by Anubis.3

The atmosphere is livid, filled with dust and smoke. Outside the cities of the world, tents have sprouted, equipment is tossed about, the voices of a thousand men fill the air. The great mobilization of the Military Units of the eWorld is in process. Flags by the dozen were hoisted into the air – designs vary, ranging from the elegant to the terrible. The faces of the warriors, for a change were filled with lust rather than patriotism.

With the emergence of “The Regiment Rumble”, wars have been turned on their head, metamorphosing into pitched battles between regiments, competing for influence and tokens. Competition was savage, with members within great MUs fighting against each other.

The rules of the Regiment Rumble are infamously brutal, clearly favouring the strong over the weak. Once a regiment crosses a number of kills, they get a bunch of tokens and an amount of gold is added to the pot. The catch here is that the tokens, by themselves are essentially worthless. To win anything, a regiment has to gain a certain percentage of the tokens obtained by the top regiment. Thus, only a few regiments won a share, with the rest left in the gutter. However, cleverer commanders devised igneous ways of beating the rest of the pack.

Meanwhile, back in India, an event long dreaded finally took place – a coup. The country came to know from a special announcement put in the media by President Honor. It was well and to the point

All eindians move to bihar and fight to save our dictator . make it fast/

The post was read and read again. Tanks rushed to the battle screens to confirm the news, party presidents wept tears of joy, awaiting the return of democracy, congressmen busy in parliament that day, debating the Tea-parties Tax bill found out much later. The general population started mobilizing for war. It seemed that a sleeping dwarf was finally bestirring itself.

The coup was initiated by a group of players, using the MU Indian Liberators to mount the attack.

As it went, it was a walkover.

In a way, the rout was inevitable. the long months of dictatorship had lent an insurmountable 10x damage bonus to the attackers. Additionally, several Indians have openly shown their displeasure at Windfall's reign and it's suspected that many fought along with the Romanians in the coup.

In the aftermath, the deposed dictator, windfall fled the country. The president, entrusted with the ultimate authority immediately commenced the task of securing the country's finical reserves. A quarter of a million in currency was shifted from organizations into trusted hands.

As the backdrop to these very practical measures, rumors flew thick and fast among the common eIndian population. The Romanians were involved, everyone agreed. Iran was also a part of it, supposedly acting as Pakistan's proxy

The truth came out in bits and pieces. Iran was busy with their nuclear deal, Pakistan didn't know there was a coup in the first place (through they deny it and claim a “vast strategic operation”). Finally, it transpired that the Romanians didn't want to rule India at all.

The leader of the MU, Latvian Destroyer denied any harmful intentions towards eIndia. His explanation for the coup was rather simple – to isolate their opponents, and hence collect more tokens for the regiment rumble tournament. A fight between the members of his regiment and Indian forces meant a lower average opponent strength on the battlefield, and hence a higher kill rate, cumulating in more tokens collected. Since the liberation, the attackers have returned home and show no signs of any further hostility. Latvian went on to add that the coup "had no national affiliations of any sort" and was purely a fight for gold.

Through, all this begs the question, will there be another coup, this time by a hostile power with every intention of ruling? - the ramifications are none the pleasant and could ultimately lead to the end of eIndia as we know it. In answer to these concerns, President Honor, just before leaving office promised “to keep on fighting, no matter what”. But, the former president added a note of warning, saying that if India's activity levels keep on dropping at it's current pace and people refuse to fight, things “would go very badly”; if even half the population became active, India might flourish for years to come.

On that sobering note, we close this account. The next battle, when it comes will be critical in seeing how good our forces really are in a straight-up war and a high turnout would bode well for the days to come.

Before we go, two footnotes.

1. Windfall has left the country, owing to fatigue and strain of the dictatorship and intends to spend some quality time in Bulgaria. We at the Giza Gazette are sorry to see him go and wish him better times ahead.

2. Newly-elected president wittyprakash has put forward a scheme for increasing the eIndian population, the details of which can be found here. We commend him for this initiative, hopefully more fresh faces will fill the lanes of eIndia soon!

3. An editorial error was made, stating the nationality of the attackers as Romanian, which was later shown to not be the case. We deeply regret the error.
