Technique and Feel -- The Way of eRepublik 0.4th
Pfenix Quinn
When I sit down to play eRepublik, it is not because I want to master a technique.
It's because I want to find out how an idea reverberates in this weird little corner of cyberspace.

Shout out to colleagues, co-stars, little leaguers, bizarro's and normals -- thanks for showing up!
Last time we touched on the first two of the 12 Points of Focus in the Way of eRepublik..
- Spirit
- Rhythm
Today we'll take a look at the next two...
Tackling e-Technique
Without a doubt, technique matters. Especially if you want to play certain styles of eRepublik. But you will not learn the Way of eRepublik solely through technique.
Technique enables us to execute game play with efficiency and clarity. But for it to mean anything, first we must have something to express. Sometimes a player with crude technique is more entertaining and interesting than one with an impeccable grasp of all the mechanics.
Acquire what you need. And no more. That is the Way of eRepublik.
Feeling Your e-Feels
It is better to have a good feeling for the game than it is to master all of its rules and its ever-changing mechanics.
Learning the details will deepen your appreciation and undertanding of the game. Sure. No doubt. But it won't provide any real advantage on the path to the Way of eRepublik. A robot can learn all that and be a "perfect" player. But, meh. Who cares?
What's more important is the soulful emotion that a player brings into the game community. It's the human pulses behind the mouse clicks that make the whole silly thing start to resonate in a joyful way.
A sympathetic vibration. A genial sensation. A magnanimous attitude.
Players who send out such vibes are remembered long after the big hitters and the sly manipulators are forgotten.
NEXT TIME: Perfection and Mistakes.
Yours in peace, love and e-friendship,

Ride the rides. Feel the feels.
There is an old divide in this game between those who focus on game mechanics and those who are more interested in what has been disparaged as role playing, but is really just a greater interest in developing different aspects of the game and community. The truth is, this is a false dichotomy. There have been real friendships forged in the game. All of us do and say some things in game that we wouldn't dream of in real life, no matter how similar our game characters might be to our real persona. Some of the best players mechanically are also just really good people, in game and in real life; some are not. Conversely, some who aren't terribly interested in fighting the same battles over and over, or accumulating eWealth, are nonetheless interesting and charismatic; some are not. The only way to "win" this game is to figure out how it works, then do what makes you happy.

Can you feel it?
The technique to make soap balls lying in ground is toxic for your eyes.
Bad technique, but it feels great!
