Family time

Day 4,487, 03:20 Published in Ireland Ireland by Black Panther I

Just like in the real life, when some things you experience mark you for the rest of your (e)life its very hard to move away from that very thing that kinda changed you, or the way you see things, the way you talk and play. If I have to choose that very first "thing" that made me get deeply addicted to the game it would be the day I joined the Irish Citizen Army. It was somewhere around 2010. when I first came to eIreland. Most of the community was made by RL Irish players and if you ever spoke to the Irishmen you know how much of a fun that can get.

I was always fairly interested in writing articles, organizing stuff and trying to be better in something. Produce more, deal bigger damage, coordinated more people. One thing that always keeps me going is the potentials of a group in this kind of a game. During the old days of this game that potential was incredibly high. You could do all sorts of things if you had a good company and trust me on it - Irish Citizen Army had the best lineup for such things.

One of the first guys I spoke to when I arrived in eIreland was IBhoy, the main guy in the family. Among many other active players, the ones I've enjoyed the company for the longest time were Sweet Drinker, Padraig, CT, Chewie, Conway, Seanan and others. Each of those lads had its own unique personality. Each one of us was really good at something. Each one of us also had its own flaws too. We made mistakes, we did some great stuff, but most importantly we had the fun you can't have in this game anymore. And I really miss those days.

I miss the days when you could be part of a group that's also be looking for some changes, some improvements, or at least a good fun. Communication channels (on IRC) were always a great fun. We'd always plan things such as wiping UK, signing some new MPP or how to improve our production facilities. All those things mattered because it seemed like a big deal. Nowadays building a Q7 company doesn't even give me the satisfaction. When I built my first company back in the glory days I was so happy I couldn't stop thinking about it for days.

Being involved in the politics, debating relevant stuff that actually had a meaning, trolling, playing mind games and presenting your views and plans made much more sense because there were huge communities listening to you. Ireland had over 50 players online in the same time. It was a huge 'market' for anything you'd want to do. And we were always a small country. Imagine how it was in the bigger ones. Ireland, however, had something that wasn't so often, it had a family.

Right or wrong we'd always back up each others. We'd create fun for ourselves. Game was much different, being a part of the group meant everything. You couldn't do anything on your own. We had our spies in the other parties, we had our people running Irish Army. We were always part of the Governemnt, we were always in decision making positions. Its not that we didn't let others do it, we were just fairly successful in it and the community knew enough about the game in order to appreciate it.

Irish Citizen Army had around 150 active fighters at its best. I remember that the best days were when we had around 50 fighters, all eIrish, most of us were strong tanks. We were attacking much bigger countries, we were able to compare ourselves to them because of our togetherness. We were always online, always ready to fight. We had something to fight for.

Those days are past now and it might be the best if they remain in the past. But one thing is sure, the ICA shall never be disbanded, it must live and wait for the better days, or whats more likely, end of the game. When that happens we will still be here. If you're among those nostalgic ones, that still has 1% of the motive to restore the glory days, if you're unrepairable person like me, give it a try, join the Family. A point from which everything has started. Eat, sleep, sex & Irish Citizen Army!
