A Word Of Hope
Thedillpickl
Hello,
I come to you today to address a sad state of affairs. If you would, please take a quick look at this article to become up to date with the situation. I am not going to rehash what is being said on every news source today. But I do wish to express my disgust as I'm sure every sane person out there must feel.
Those who have left this life we can no longer help. The injured and the hundreds that will remain traumatized for life are the ones that need our help and prayers. I readily admit that I'm Christian and am quoting Christian scripture. If I were familiar with the Quran of the Muslim faith or the scripture of the Hindu's I would post something from them also. If you are familiar with these, or other texts, please feel free to post verses of comfort and strength in my comments section. For my Atheist friends you are welcome to post thoughts and well wishes.
To Those Who Offend
Luke 17:1-2 (NKJV)
1 Then He said to the disciples, "It is impossible that no offenses should come, but woe to him through whom they do come!
2 It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.
To Those In Need Of Comfort
2 Corinthians 1:3-4 (NKJV)
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort,
4 who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
My Fervent Wish
May those in need of comfort receive it in abundance.
May those in need of forgiveness receive it in humble repentance.
For those who are standing in guilt without a repentant heart, may God have mercy on their soul.
Comments
I publish this here as the only act that I can do.
Those poor babies...
Such a sad day....
Horrifying.
RIP
God bless... God bless... ='[
Dill, I am not a Christian, but share your feelings.
Perhaps maybe we in the USA might take a little time out of our busy schedules to soberly discuss our collective obsession with guns.
RIP
V ='(
RIP 🙁 send Love to all those affected
shame on Pig for bringing politics in this.
My thoughts and prayers go out to all the victims
I'm speechless, it's such a horrifying... Why?
Rest in peace little angels.
Нека им је лака црна земља.
RIP
I will be praying for them all.
@Zxdek, no need to criticize. PIZ is expressing his personal conviction. I suggest that the discussion would be better suited to another occasion. I'd point out that a gun would not be required for a mad man to kill en masse but will leave it at that.
Death is not the end of man's life; it only opens the door to another, a higher form of life: " We have ordained death among you and We are not to be overcome, that We may change your state and make you grow into what you know not ." Qur'an 56 : 60 - 61 .
"To Allah (Almighty God) we belong, and to Him is our return." (Holy Qur'an 2:156)
"It is He who gives Life and causes Death: and when He decides upon an affair, He says to it, ‘Be’ - and it is."
(Qur'an Ghafir 40:6😎
This world is hard and we have made it so.
If there were ever a way out of darkness I do not see it today.
I stay with this game because of the community, just how many more communities suffer as the one today is, before we drop reasons for talking issues that are more than political?
I empathise with the families. All that I can give them is my hope.
RIP
As a parent this saddens me. A lot of other parents won't have the pleasure of watching their children grow up. Those parents will have holes in their lives that will never be filled. They will never get to see what those children might have grown to become. A sick madman has caused so much pain, and will never have to answer for what he has caused. I am thankful that my little girl is home safe with her mother and I, but I do worry about the world I have to send her out into.
RIP It is sad that this happen's in the world. God bless the souls of the deceased.
RIP all.
speechless
It is natural to feel rage and disgust, buy let us never forget how often create our own monsters. All of us have probably rejected or ostracised someone for being different at some point in our lives. When a child faces much of this rejection and is perhaps even abused at home, it is no great wonder when he comes to a bad end. Only by reaching out to such young people and helping them find meaning in life can we prevent future tragedies of this nature.
I can only feel sadness....
I will simply say that suggesting that now is not the time to discuss all of the ramifications that may or may not have led to the events earlier is a form of politicization.
As a parent of four who spent the afternoon with my twin 7 year old daughters at their school decorating gingerbread houses I certainly felt the both anguish and utter helplessness while being extremely grateful for the opportunity to enjoy a simple afternoon. I don't feel any shame for my statement earlier.
Jason Darby and morningblur, thanks for your poignant and personal reflections
"The deep pain that is felt at the death of every friendly soul
arises from the feeling that there is in every individual something
which is inexpressible, peculiar to him alone, and is, therefore,
absolutely and irretrievably lost."
~Arthur Schopenhauer
Every time an innocent soul dies, our world is diminished.
PIZ I think Jason Darby hit the nail on the head. What I was trying to not expand upon earlier was that whichever means someone who has lost all reason would use to 'fix' what they perceive as a wrong innocents would still be harmed.
I'm pleased you were able to spend the afternoon with your girls.
I can't bear to hear the news about it.
after all these centuries of civilization, we are still barbarians.
Such a sad day.
Нека им је лака црна земља.
Only sadness over this senseless act.
It is time to put the guns away, forever.
I'm not a USA rl citizen, and today, when hearing the news from the radio, they said that the mother, teacher, had 3 guns in her possession.. My wife said "what? How come she had so many guns? well, she was in something that's for sure"
In here, people are not allowed to carry weapons, to have one you need a license, and it's hard to get one (very, very hard). Even with a license, you need to prove reguraly that your criminal record is kept clean every 6 months.
It's a sad time, but it's also a time to make decisions, and one of them would be to limit how easy you can get a gun. If you, as US cz, don't do anything, it will be a matter of time until some other kid kills someone. And next time could be your son.
My condolocies to the American people, and all the best for the future.
As I implied earlier, I believe that the American trouble with violence has deeper roots than mere arms. Are other Western nations truly safer because of their restrictions or is it because they have been proactive in addressing the societal problems of poverty, mental illness, and child neglect? Where murderous intent exists, will it not always find a method? If we eliminate arms, can we also eliminate toxins or volatile chemical concoctions which may prove lethal on the same scale?
While I do believe arms reform should be addressed of course, I do not think that it should be the chief issue. We must ask ourselves difficult questions about urban hopelessness, mass incarceration, and the true nature of child abuse. On some level, we also have a responsibility to take action against the causes of such tragedies on an individual scale in our own communities. Organizations like Scouting, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and 4H can make all of the difference in a young person's life.
RIP kiddos.
I think, someone replying to the suggestion that we discuss gun laws as "politicizing" the tragedy is among the problems we face. Why is it political? There's clearly something wrong. No, it's politicizing when it winds of change go against someone's beliefs. That's one of the many problems the United States faces.
Our problems are several: 1. Mental health care 2. the ease of gun ownership/lax regulation 3. aggressive society. We need to deal with all of them.
It's unfortunate that a tragedy like this needs to happen to urge action.
There's no need for ownership of guns greater than a pistol for self-defense, ever. That's where we can begin this discussion along with ammunition restrictions. Dealing with the mental side, a mental test really should be required before a person can legally own a gun, a rigorous test at that.
Poor kids. I really choked up watched that brave father answering questions from the media early today.
RIP
what kind of cruel god will take a child away. poor poor poor parents 🙁
