[CP] Day Four 1/2: Press start to continue

Day 1,603, 05:20 Published in Canada Canada by Trenton Rendell

My London Knights lost last night, 5-2 to the Spirit and are now trailing 2-1 in the series.

I’ve been playing this game since 2008 and it has always been my understanding that if a country wanted to attack another country then that country had to “Declare War”. It was also my understanding that “Natural Enemy” meant that you received bonus when fighting against your natural enemy. It only occurred to me after I had declared war against the UK that “Natural Enemy” also opens a war against the country… but for free.

Why even have the “Declare War” option if the “Natural Enemy” option does the same thing but for a lower cost?

The gold in our treasury hasn’t been touch for the longest time, losing 300g isn’t going to hurt eCanada. Sure it could have been used to help our MUs, our allies, but if it hasn’t already when will it be? Now that’s not a reason to excuse my mistake but really what I want to get at is that our nation is strong; we’ve picked ourselves up before, after losing gold of a much larger amount.

It wasn’t long until my detractors had at me, already calling me the worst President. After days of rather successful foreign relations building and A+s, daily articles and putting forth a new image of eCanada, I am now the two horned devil atop the hill, waving around my pitchfork whilst I sodomize a baby sheep.

Even my political allies took a second look at me, asking themselves if they had made a mistake. There’s already talks about my successor. Hearing all this can make any person discouraged. Why continue trying to correct things when you’re already being fed to the buzzards and pushed away for the next guy in line. But thus is the life of a politician, I guess.

I had, in that moment thought about ragequitting. I thought “If these people think they can do better, let them” I was going to close down my IRC, log out of eRepublik and forget the last 3 and a quarter years ever happened. But no, I’ve spent far too much time on this game, worked far too hard to get here, I’m not going to quit. I’ll continue to improve our relationship, continue the war against British Aggression, continue to correct the path we’re on.

In the end, it really is just a game and like many games you play you press the A button when you meant to press the B button. Bought the red car when you wanted to buy the blue car. Jumped when you should have ducked. You get my point.

Regardless, we have a war to fight, we must do something that is so hard for us to do as of late…band together. Band together as a nation and fight the Brits. I’ll be on the battlefield, will you?

Until tomorrow…

Love you all
Trenton
