[CP] - August - The MoD and a Competition

wiggle wiggle

Hello all,

I come with you of news for an update on the MoD side of things - this comes with an exciting announcement!

When I ran for CP I ran on a platform of efficiency and hard work. Lots has been going on in the background so I am happy with what my teams are producing. That doesn’t mean that things can’t go further and start moulding some of the changes I envisioned.

A phrase I have heard thrown around time and time again over the past two weeks or so as the football season got closer and closer is: “evolution, not revolution”. That is what I like to think I am accomplishing here. I don’t have the time to personally flip every ministry upside down and change it completely. I did that with the MoF when I first took over. (sure, stuff like it had been done before) We had many months of very much the same in the Ministry and no transparency or Monetary Market fishing, I changed that and it was a bit of a revolution.

Now I have set out my vision and my teams are helping to evolve the ministries into the end goal. So many ideas and so little time is often the case with what goes on in my head.

The latest MoD orders: http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/-mod-daily-orders-starting-day-2105-2310228/1/20

With the MoD, efficiency is possibly the most key. We require fighters to know exactly where to fight so that their damage is not wasted. The main way to do this is to inform the Commanders, Second in Command and Captains of the orders so they can ensure their MUs have up to date orders directly from TWO. I strongly believe (as a past Commander) that this is where most of the direction comes from. There are many of the keener players who will read the MoD paper, however most of our damage is likely to come directly from people completing the DO.

This has been accomplished via an ingame mail this term, as it has been for many of the past terms. Sometimes individuals who have the power to change the orders have been left out of these messages because they do not accept my MoD teams friend requests or they are simply forgotten. It is also possible that a new individual takes Command or 2iC of a unit. To solve this, a new message will be up and running shortly!

BigAnt has recently left the MoD team. He had promised me that during his term as MoD under me he would not abuse his position in anyway, most notably for political power. This is something I am certain he did not do as he was acting as MoD. As we are all aware, the political situation has flared up slightly lately and this has caused BigAnt to step down as MoD. He doesn’t feel he can keep his promise to me anymore and I thank him for his honesty and hard work over these two weeks.

BA was the main contributor to the MoD paper. This sudden departure left us a bit off guard with keeping that up to date. I have made amends and we will be seeing newer, fuller, articles up in circulation all day everyday.

Now I plug for more blood in my ministries. If you are keen to get involved and will not cause friction with how the current team are working I am happy for people to gain experience and help us keep everything up to date and running smoothly.

Another point of revolution is the new bot we have in #MoD. While this is a lot like the bot that FragUK generously lets us use (and has done for a very long time) it has one extra perk. The individual who created the bot has been granted TWO access so can code the bot to pull the UKs orders directly from TWO HQ to anyone that types .uk in #MoD.

I will point out that this bot is something that TWO HQ came up with, I can not claim the credit for this. However I believe the eUK may be the only country to have the bot in their public channel (I claim credit for this!).

We will be updating FragUK’s bot when the TWO orders are out of date. So if you come into #MoD and .uk gives you out of date orders, type !cb and a member of the MoD team will have updated the bot to give you the correct details.

So - so far we have covered orders. Trying to ensure that everyone knows where the government wants the public of the eUK to fight. There are now multiple ways to find this out:

The bots in #MoD (.uk or !cb)
The MoD paper which will have more information regarding the orders
Your DO which all Commanders, 2iC and captains are informed about as soon as the orders change

There are two things missing. We know where to fight, but we don’t know how to do so effectively and we don’t really care too much about how country x y or z do given how far away from us they are.

What do we need? Education and motivation!

The MU Competition

Launching on Monday will be a weekly competition to hopefully not only educate people how to correctly fight, but also make people want to put that little extra bit of effort in for our allies as it helps the reputation of your military unit!

Using combat orders we will be tasking Military units with doing damage in certain battles and only to do so when the wall is under a certain percent! A big issue we have, not only in the eUK, but TWO as a whole, is wasting damage. We pour it into battles that are long won just so we can complete our DO.

The hope is that when your MUs pride is at stake (and many prizes!) you will want to wait a little bit and fight when it is more effective.

Military units will be ranked on their contribution to key battles (we will put at least one up a day, so even if there isn’t a key battle as such, there is a chance for education and reward) via a tracking system based on combat orders.

It isn’t something that has been tried before so it, like the soon to be announced Team Rocket, is in a very experimental stage. Hopefully it can be a roaring success!

Now, what was that mentioned above about a Team Rocket? What are Jessie and James doing in an eRepublik CP article?

Well, the final thing I pledged to do for you guys with the MoD during my term was experiment with the countries Rocket Factories and see if this can be usefully deployed in battle. Running simultaneously next to the new MU competition will be my Team Rocket experiment.

I will be seeing if we can deploy rockets in the right battle at the right time and if this is an effective route to take for if we ever see ourselves in a dire situation.

Articles will be released shortly about the competition and Team Rocket so keep your eyes peeled.

Thank you for skimming to the end,

Carlini
