The End Is Near

I am sitting in my office in Kojimachi; Tokio, mid-day in late autumn. The sky is clear and blue, with a few puffy clouds drifting lazily by. The sun is somewhat warm on my shoulders as I sit at my desk, gazing out the window I see the first leaves fall. This year has gone so fast, too quickly if you ask me.
It's funny how things happen. How one thing leads into another, and suddenly you're into something you did not expect to find yourself doing a moment ago. Well, maybe I shouldn't say "wasn't expecting" since I'm the one writing this article, yet the alcohol is surely helping - a fine bottle of quality sake I got on a trip to Kobe.
But anyway, where was I? Oh yes, the reason that made me write this article...
I felt compelled to tell you my opinion on the state of this world that we call our own and what it means for us personally - the players. For those who are reading these columns after I publish this article or in the distant future - this world is not what it used to be, gone are the times of struggles, intrigue, and war. What we have instead is what would make Dio Brando anything but proud : an era of perverted peace and boredom.
We have formed this world into an eternal circle of farming for gold via endless training wars that benefit no one, not even ourselves. The world population is falling month by month, nothing worth of interest is really happening and I have considered more than once returning myself to the void and becoming one with the sand I and many others came from.
I mean there is no point, to train and work endlessly day after day, week after week, year after year, only to become richer and stronger, the most skilled tank or pilot. Doing a few tasks here and there; no wonder so many people are quitting.
Well, some might say that if you look for something meaningful to do you can go into politics, yet congress is saying "yes" to almost anything, the government is usually the same people around the globe, and there is no real discourse or struggle as long as there is gold to farm via training wars or something that threatens those training wars.
This world needs changing if we want it to survive or it will just die of our lack of will to change anything. Why are we even playing? Why are we paying money? Why are we spending our precious time in this world?
We surely are not here to do some events that have no meaning other than to increase sales nor provide anything in terms of gameplay. We are behaving like mindless drones searching for the next fix of gold and we are only here because of habit and the connections we have built with other players. The only thing that this so-called game has going for it is the people we interact with on a daily basis, and for many, I am glad to have met them and for some, I am able to call them my friends.
I look at the written words on my screen and think about the future. I don't know when the world will end, and I know is heading towards its death in the next few years.
Yet I may have a suggestion to end this nonsense and to enforce a change and hopefully improve what we have at the moment, it's a simple yet for some outrageous idea : end all wars, end all training wars, liberate every region and establish real peace.
A peace that would make Dio proud of all of us!
A peace to show the collective power and the will of the players for a change!
A peace that has more meaning than anything we have at the moment!
A peace that does not require us to do more than we do at the moment, but less!
A peace to spite the ones that exploit us for easy money!
A peace for change!
I pause ... let us try to save the world.

A true writer! Thanks 🙏
No, thank you for reading 🙂
I agree with these statements.

I like those neatly formed blocks of text. They make for a pleasant read, even with a glass of quality sake missing in my hands..
Before people spammed pictures of cats in articles, we used to write books.
Books, eh? What was wrong about oral folklore??
Well, what are you waiting for then? Go get some 😃

I like this song, thank you 😃
When I write something on the wall there are no reactions.
When I earn a meaningless medal people vote it who otherwise don't care about me and never read anything from me.
Automatized achievements like levels and ranks get praise, human things don't.
It died out from the game to do human things.
And not even the game mechanic changed, but the players themselves.
Yeah, people don't care as much as there is really nothing to care about in this game. 🙁
End all TWs? Mad lad.
Whatever will I do without my... *checks notes* ...354 Battle Hero awards?!
Maybe you could eat some sand kebab to make you remember what you should do 😉
Praise the author and continue to do the same as before.
I'd rather have you praise me and think about what I wrote at the very least.

"Nearly all creators of Utopia have resembled the man who has toothache, and therefore thinks happiness consists in not having toothache. They wanted to produce a perfect society by an endless continuation of something that had only been valuable because it was temporary. The wider course would be to say that there are certain lines along which humanity must move, the grand strategy is mapped out, but detailed prophecy is not our business. Whoever tries to imagine perfection simply reveals his own emptiness."
- George Orwell
No idea why you posted this. But what i can say: i didn't mean the things has to be perfect to be good.
The social part that the eRepublik has to offer give us the possibility to make new friends and even give us some fun. But the community isn't exploring since years, years and years the potential that the game has and some of its tools.
The military module isn't only about strength. The determination is key and the collective still matters yes.
What i say depends of some factors, anyways
Why i waste my time giving review or opnion about this game or this community, by the way ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
My points about community is relative, by the way. I remember when Brazil joined ANDES and it didn't have the best end, but at least the country had initiative to try getting more fun somehow. Then i played on France and i have seen the country almost getting whiped out sometimes, but managed to recover regions. Sometimes i just think that the game might get a little more interesting if we see all the neutral countries getting more initiative for something.
"The military module isn't only about strength. The determination is key and the collective still matters yes."
Well, my reference is about the determination points that each occupied region may get, for example. But forget what i said .... the military module is fragile and i prefer don't comment about this.
Play eRepublik at your risk.
Also, you probably have seen already that the difference of strength, level and rank between old and new accounts are big. Maybe since the first day you've registered your account.
You are not wrong with your assessment, yet I believe this games should be more then JUST the military module.
While Military Affairs dominate the late game we cannot groom new citizens correctly.
This is a very good article. Well done. I enjoyed reading your ideas and wish for the best. I am optimistic though and i very much doubt that anything good will happen . Unfortunately what your write is what i also try to express in my articles too. It is sad that the real world and the internet game world is going towards the wrong directions and not having in mind the mistakes of the past. Good luck to you and YOUR life.
Thank you George! But I am not planning to leave yet, I might, but not now.
