Mid-term Report

Day 5,814, 04:02 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by 10 Downing Street

Fellow citizens

We have reached the midpoint of the government’s term of office and it is time to provide you with a report.

Training Wars

Our TW arrangements have been maintained and negotiations are continuing to add another TW with Turkey, which needs to be arranged with third party countries. An announcement will be made when and if everything is put together.

All our other wars are progressing smoothly and we are on the alert for any need for determination resets.

There was a hiccup when someone (it is not clear who) triggered a Resistance War in London against Brazil. There has been strong bipartisan support for preventing the RW from being successful.

Finances

Huey George has continued his exploration of government financing and our budgetary requirements. His report on government finances for October is here.

Huey has also published an article with economic advice for citizens, covering factory production for newer players and highlighting the situation in our two main economic regions, Yorkshire and Humberside (our Capital) and Scotland (under the administration of Taiwan). The article also warns as to which forms of production are not profitable at present, including Food Raw Material (FRM) and to operate with caution in producing Houses.

Concessions

Congress has approved the renewal of our concessions to Spain, which will be formally proposed in the next few days.

Congress

The Congress thread has been very active this month and many subjects have been covered. With the election of a new Speaker, I have decided to open a direct channel to the Speaker for effective communication between that office and that of Country President. Although the country feed is a public document, the Congress thread is not as easily followed even by Congress members. The Speaker is owed a level of respect by the Country President and vice versa. A direct channel between the two should aid in communication.

Northern Ireland

There was some fervent discussion in Congress and a widely read and supported article in the media about the situation with Ireland regarding our core region of Northern Ireland.

It must be stressed that the geopolitical situation is now vastly different from what prevailed three years ago, when we were subject to threats, intimidation and outright aggression by Ireland and its allies. A temporary agreement was put in place back then but this has long since expired.

We now have good relations with Armenia, which occupies Northern Ireland, as well as many other Training War arrangements with multiple countries. None of our TW partners would be happy with any aggression from Ireland should we assert our position on the region. However, brash assertiveness on our part is not likely be of any assistance.

An even more important consideration is the economic welfare of our citizens who have factories in Scotland. Unnecessary disruption of that arrangement is definitely not in our national interest.
