[Government of Belgium] Ministers Reports!

Day 1,172, 08:15 Published in Belgium Belgium by eBelgian Presidency

As a final presentation of what the government has done for you this month, I have asked each minister to give a small report (well small ... one thought something different about the size of small then others!) about what he or she has done during my term. It has been an honour for me to work together with these people!

Ministers of Foreign Affairs LeValeureuxLiegeois and mittekemuis

(LvL) With Mittekemuis, I think we haven't been a bad team, I hope we have done a good and complementary job. It is for me a pleasure to work with her.
Currently, we have 9 opened embassies in foreign countries (our closest neighbours and some big nations as USA, Poland, Hungary and Canada).
On my own, I've established very good relations in France, Netherlands and United Kingdom, three countries where I've already some good friends.
Our embassies are providing good and interesting informations, with a special mention for NicknamefromRonnie, who is making an amazing job. I'm sure he would be a fantastic MoFA !
Some foreign countries has also opened their own embassies here, which look to be active.
We hope the next MoFA will carry on that way the next term, we seem to have find our stride.

(mitte) Indeed LvL and I have been a good team. It was a good call making the department of foreign affairs a teamed effort. I can recommend it for the future.
Thank you for working with me LvL. I would do it all over again if people asked me.
The past month I have been really active on various irc channels. I'm fairly new still but I have made a lot of friends around the world not in the least in Hungary and Romania.
Negotiations with Hungary has given us a new MPP. I have enjoyed the challenge it has proven to be.
Although Belgium is small we can still put it on the map. We sell ourself short by thinking we are worth nothing. This department can make a world of difference!! It has been fun to try and convince the world that Belgium is existing and an exiting place to live.

Minister of Defence Temujin094

The BAF has got it's budget this month, with this we have been able to organise strikes a lot more often with more food and weapons to our soldiers. We have fought with Germany this month where we met up with the German high command and other leaders from various country which was good for exposure.
In the future we must now start directing attention to recruitment, this can be done in a few ways, one is that we now issue orders daily, even if there is no wars with instructions on how to sign up. Secondly we can use ads as soon as they are brought back. We can also use a new spreadsheet to take in applications that will be set up soon allowing us to record new recruits more effectively..

Minister of Finance Boklevski

The most important accomplishment this month is the agreed military budget; a budget that both the Finance and the Military department have agreed they find acceptable. This can be used to make progress on our Army.
Second, the exchange rate has been kept at a stable rate of 1 BEF = 0.019 G. Sometimes, some cheaper offers still appear, but it's getting more and more irregular. The state did buy quite some BEF off the market, but they are stored safely in NBB-BNB, waiting to be brought on the market if the rates go up for some reason.

Minister of State Companies Glenn Wauters

Not much happened in the MoSC; I've opened Quality Foods for a while to give people a job, but I would need to open more companies
However, these companies wouldnt be able to sell very good
Thats why we should open an Iron company in Belgium to give 10 people a job and to sell on the Belgian market, or a grain company to supply the food company
I've reopened a company of my own and a new company, but the world is in crisis and it is impossible to give good wages as in all sectors there is a crisis
People are creating their own grain and food and we have the impossibility to keep up

Wages are dropping, but food prices are doing that also
So in the end they make up
Q2 food used to cost 2.2BEF, thats now 1.66BEF (also, on a further notice, I hate the recent change where you only watch one kind of food, now I have to click more then ever to see all food). Be certain to check out all prices: Q3 sometimes is far cheaper then 3 Q1's.
World in crisis, we're still waiting for a good change.

Minister of National Security MaryamQ

Actually, the good citizens of eBelgium are making this job really much easier than I could have expected. ATO efforts for PP elections at first appeared unsuccessful, but thanks to reporting by several concerned citizens, the PTO multis in BCP and FB were banned and the parties were quickly returned to trusted eBelgians. The other multi candidates, noctar and marfos, have also been reported, but remain inexplicably alive at 11 and 12 health, respectively. Thanks to vigilance by our citizens, particularly Kylero, other multis have also been detected and banned, most notably a 40-character global multi with 4 characters in eBelgium. Thanks at least in part to this, the Congress elections were much easier, and the presumed PTO candidate, angelitoangelica123 was defeated.

Minister of Immigration Mike Wooldridge

Well there is not much really to say , seeing that i have not been doing the job for that long. (Former MoI Rowan Quigley stopped midterm - Sammy)
But i am getting used to my position.
I am enjoying investigating everybodies past's , however it does become quite hard at times seeing that the eWiki is quite out of date and many people still haven't even got an eWiki page.
I have countered this problem however by asking people for information on certain individuals and if the Citizenship Request seems legitimate enough , i have even asked them for an in depth story about there past , and reasons they wish to come to eBelgium.
I am however trying to find ways to improve and make easier the way in which we log Citizenship requests.

Minister of Justice NLSP

Wel Justice,
it has been a harsh month and the performance where quite sloppy.
There has been a small improvement with the Constitution, but that will still needs more time to look into it. For the moment we are making the constitution a little bit better, but that takes a lot more time and most of the congressmembers seems to not really care about it.

Then there was also the Supreme Court, the ministry has tried to get a good working relation with them. It seems to be figure out for both them, as the ministry how a case has to be taken up, and also the dealing with the aftermath of a case was not so easily. There was also forgotten that the SC has to handle to the laws of eBelgium and that these are rather small and minimal. Because the SC had to handle according these laws, they got some resistance which was totally unfair, which was imho not the best for the motivation of the SC. Also, while the work as a team, It was suggested that this wasn't the case. In the end, the ministry concludes that the SC has done a great job under difficult circumstances.

This brings us to the last part: LAWS, in the aftermath of our first case, it came clear that eBelgium need some more or better regulations. First there was some problems with communication between every involved partner, but then the MoJ started bilateral talks with some (preferred) partners to get a better picture of the case. Still congress, who's job it is, has stayed very quiet on that subject! While there were no real new laws created or suggested, the MoJ has worked with the SC to update the current justice system. This is as we speak, presented to congress and we hope that there will be a positive answer from congress about it.

On the other hand, we should also mention what didn't work out. That is rather simply, there was not enough communication and coordination between the ministry and other cabinet positions, CP and congress. A lot of persons didn't know what we where working on, and guidance was rather not present. This has to do at a lot of factors, being real life obligations from both the MoJ and other people an important one. Also there was no attempt made, and so no success, to increase the workforce of the ministry with some sub-cabinet positions.
In my personal opinion this was rather a bad month, however if I look back, there were some things that were achieved, and it is not the case that no work was done. For the task for next month there should be included the Constitution Reform, Activating Congress and Some Law-making

NLSP: note that 5 sentences does not mean 5 paragraphes, mate 😉 - Sammy

Minister of Education Ernest Bogdansson

main thing was Mentorship Scheme program. I was sending welcome message in-game to all new eBelgium players (but not in last few days, I have now exams and I couldn't find time for that). I get response from only few babies, about 5. In welcome message they get link to national forum, but I didn't see to many of them on our forum, but at least I remember one new guy here who registered here after welcome message. So I didn't do too much, but here is my short report..

Minister of Entertainment Critically

I started up the Werewolf game, but our werewolf was immediatly killed. I started up a new werewolfgame and it will start on the 30th January. And I am thinking about set up a IRC-quiz to get the activity back on the IRC, but first I need to think about it more carefully!
