[Derp4PotUS] Community Now. Community Forever.

Day 4,327, 10:38 Published in USA USA by Derphoof

Lurking.

Watching..

Observing…

For the most part, this is what I’ve been doing for the past two years of eRepublik.

Since I declined to run in August 2017, I decided to take a backseat to general politics. I would only get involved when the community needed my input or to do a job. I haven’t sought office, position, or advisory status. Occasionally, I’ve served as Speaker of the House, when the community wished me to do so. The last time, I had to reacquaint myself with some changes in the game.

CO’s are basically a thing of the past.
The eUSA is even more of a declined entity.
The in-game community appears as dead as a doornail.
The community is disorganized and disjointed.

Some of these things we can adjust to or fix, but some may not be fixable. Only time and effort will tell. As it relates to the community, I do believe we can do better, and I think we can do that.

- In the past 150 days, the PotUS has given us 3 articles. They were all short blurbs about re-election.

- In Discord channels and forums, the PotUS is rarely active or visible in any meaningful way.

- I’ve heard many complaints that our TW’s are always messed up and people don’t know what’s happening.

- We are amassing incredible amounts of money and doing nothing with it.

So, since it appears that nobody is looking to solve any problems and get involved, I suppose I’ll do it myself.

I’m running for PotUS.

So, here’s a few things I want to do.

Firstly, I want to update the eUS Citizenry more often about what’s going on behind the scenes. Even if there isn’t much to write about, I’ll do my best. Hell, I’ll just write fictional stories to pass the time.

Secondly, I want to make the presidency more present and accessible to those who remain here. As the game gets smaller, its important to maintain interpersonal relationships and keep people invested in the game’s community. After all, its not just the big red fight button that keeps us all here, all the time.

Thirdly, I want to either better organize and execute our TW’s or ditch them altogether. If our community can’t step up and coordinate properly with other communities, then what’s the point? A little bit of TP/BH reward? Well, if you want that measly reward, do a little more than click. Step up to help coordinate and execute.

Lastly, I want to give back to the community. Currently, we are taking in a massive amount of income every day and hoarding it away for little to no reason. It’s very hard to spend that money in any meaningful way, due to the fact that CO’s are disabled. That’s where most of our money went before.

Therefore, I want to work with the Congress to get the money out of Gov’t hands and back to the people as both motivation and reward. I want to issue a weekly (or daily) rebate, whereby citizens who sign-in under the country feed will receive money back on a weekly (or daily) basis. A percentage of funds will be set aside every week (or day) and disbursed equally among the signed-in citizens. A bonus rebate could also go towards the factory owners who provide jobs, but who also pay a substantial amount in work tax.

Just as well, I’d like to reward our soldiers by adding bonuses to battlefield rewards, when they report them to the gov’t. Just as well, we can create different ideas for competitions, or give money to Parties/MUs who want to run their own competitions.

So, what do we want this game to be?

I’ve found my enjoyment in my daily interactions with the community. From general chat to strategizing, I’ve found much enjoyment In this diverse community, I’ve found all kinds of people. I’ve found those who troll, those who inspire, those who drive, and those who make me laugh.

It’s the reason I come back day after day. Go ahead and look at my stats. I simply don’t care about much about interacting with the fight button like some do. I care about the community and how they help me to enjoy my time here. I decided to get myself into government in order to listen to the community and try to translate what I hear from the community into government action.

So, now I’m giving it one last go to revitalize the community.

Will it really work? That remains to be seen. But at this point, would a month or two off from the monotony really hurt anything?

Maybe things are too far gone. Maybe the will isn’t there. Yet, that’s what I’ve always tried to summon the country to do. Summon the will to do, to change, and to excel. I hope that will is still there, that we might continue to build and work on this community.

Our story isn’t done yet. Even if we’re writing our end, there’s still more to be written, and its our job, collectively, to keep writing.

Time to turn the page and pick up the pen.

What happens next?
