Presidential Platform - Forward in Unity

Day 5,159, 05:50 Published in Belgium South Africa by OKayOK

Here I am again running for the not-so-coveted position of Country President of e-Belgium (insert long sigh). If I sound unenthusiastic, this is not my intention. Many of you know (besides Cindy Jay perhaps) that the last time I held the office, the nation was plunged into a coup and protracted dictatorship. I know that this nation cannot afford to have this happen again, so I will ladle out my words here in the most political and least triggering manner possible.

I believe that it really is not important who holds office, be it me, Shotan or Curly Bear, but what is important is that we revitalize a spirit of competitiveness that has been sorely lacking.

I do not believe that there is a single person within this e-Nation that believes the polarized political environment, the lack of media, the lack of growth, the lack of foreign relations and the general lack of friendship and unity is healthy for this e-Nation. I will attempt to appeal to these “social issues” and hope we (as in all parties) can find a middle ground.

Domestic
Here at home, I will implement the following: All programs will be moved to emergency help.
-There will be a program targeted at newer players only for housing (under a certain level yet to be decided).

- Every citizen will be eligible for a set amount of Q7 food donated to them every two months only. This will need to motivate them as to why they need it.
Players under a certain air-rank (yet to be decided) will be rewarded for dealing damage. This is however for players that need to level up their rank, and not a given right.

- Growth through Safe Immigration. I want to make this an official government policy. As many of you know, we have done this under HOPE but that is really not where it belongs.

Foreign Affairs
The biggest thing I would like to achieve is building up the reputation of e-Belgium to the rest of the world. Allies need to be found, strengthened and supported by us when they need us. We need to build up allies far and wide and not only those that share a border with us.

The long game
We need to think about where e-Belgium is going as a nation. Are we satisfied to remain the arse end of civilization, hoping desperately that nations will not notice us and just leave us alone. We need new players, which is why the Growth through immigration program will go forward as highlighted under Domestic above. This will strengthen us, and help us to become a player in this game.

Media
We will run a program that will try and revitalize the media. There will be a cash incentive, and depending on budgetary constraints, we will make the prize substantial (on the taxpayers dime). If we cannot use the country's funds to improve how we interact and how much information is out there for the general public, what the hell is the point? I dedicate myself to lobby for this measure, but there are two major barriers that stand in the way: 1) If you like my idea, vote for me, if you don’t vote for the other guy 2) Using country funds requires congressional approval, and to mitigate any fallout, I will pledge to personally cover 100,000.00 cc alternative prize money should congress decide to block the more substantial donation.

Cabinet
The Cabinet will be made up of anyone who wishes to serve. It does not matter if you are not in a party, or in an opposition party. Taking inspiration from Shotan, we will take a united approach, including all citizens.

Nation Building
My last point is the most important. I live, IRL, in a country that saw the end of one regime and the implementation of a new regime, a new constitution and a new way of life (South Africa, 1994). The idea of Nation Building is very close to my heart. I understand that building a nation is not done with bricks, but with friendships, brotherhood, understanding, reconciliation and equality. I pledge to do whatever I can to build this nation up through these binding principles.

We are not the same nation we were before the coup, and I believe that there was a time between the last two coups where the nation sat in a state of nothingness, rudderless in a storm. If you choose me to be your captain, I pledge to steer this ship to safe harbor.
