Pfeif drauf

Day 4,866, 11:53 Published in Austria Austria by Mayamoto

Today I don’t want to talk about a specific topic, but more about a certain feeling I experienced this morning. In German you could circumscribe that feeling with the saying “Pfeif drauf”, though the younger generation might favour “scheiß drauf”. Or like germans more the north would say: "Schwamm drüber." The word-for-word translation would be “whistle to it” or “fuck it all”, but of course that doesn’t match at all. Maybe you could tell me the corresponding English saying, if you get the clue of what I mean later on, implied that a proper English saying exists.
Long story short, here’s the song that describes said meaning best:

In days like these, where the epidemic not only threatens the life of our beloved ones, but also caused lasting damage to global economy already, which most of us will have to deal with the rest of our lives, it’s easy to lose perspective and get lost in the global crisis. I think it’s all the more important to become present, that things ain't that bad as they seem. People in my generation, grown up in apparently endless economic growth, finally become aware that there are more important things than getting richer and party every day. Who didn’t know before, becomes aware of that the hard way now. But instead of despair, we should also see the chance to change society sustainably today.

All I want to say is: Don’t take everything, especially yourself, too serious. And always keep in mind : Humour is, when you laugh anyway.

So I want to close this confusing article with this quintessence: Fuck it, let’s move on!

P.S.: Here’s an old fable, which doesn’t exactly describe that feeling, but fits in well anyway, I suppose:

A little bird flew south because of the winter, but it was late and it was very cold. The bird fell to the ground, frozen stiff. While it lay there, a bull came by the way and dropped a pancake on it. The frozen bird began to thaw and noticed how nice and warm it was in the bullshit. It was so glad that it began to sing a song of joy. A passing cat heard it, followed the singing, found the bird, took it out of the shit and ate it up.

The moral of the story:
Not everyone who dumps shit on you is your enemy. And not everyone who gets you out of shit, is your friend. And last but not least: If you are stuck in shit: just shut up!
