The Newb Perspective for Fellow Newbs

Part 1!

Starting out, I think what you're first going to notice is that there's just a lot going on in terms of options. There are a lot of tabs, with tons of different things to do. My first big suggestion would be not to stress too much about all of the options. Eventually, all of them are going to become old hat to you, things you either regularly do or don't bother looking at entirely. For right now, if you're curious, feel free to click around, but the moment you begin to feel like you're processing too much information, just do something else.

What I'd suggest is focusing down on your tutorial, your daily challenges, missions, and weekly challenges. Not only do these provide you with some direction in terms of how to do things, but they also give you a better idea of the things about the game you're going to enjoy. Maybe you really like to buy and sell goods to make a profit. If that's the case, you'll probably thrive in the marketplace. For me, I really enjoy the defense combat! Nothing quite as satisfying as feeling like you're chipping away at the forces trying to invade the country.

Doing the different challenges also is going to increase your supplies, which will come in handy later on.

Ultimately, the most important part of working your way through the missions, tutorials, and challenges is that you'll get a better idea about the aspects of the gameplay you like. Don't feel like you have to become an expert at them all at the same time. Eventually, you'll master one and then have the chance to get good at another. I think it's best to pick something you legitimately like and focus on that. Do it, learn about it, talk about it with other members of the community to find out more, etc. For this, the wiki is a great resource, but there's nothing quite like discourse! Tutorials and information are great, but learning is all about talking to people and understanding them, so if there are people you can chat with about how certain mechanics work, that's probably going to be your best bet. I'm always available to talk!

For specific instructions on how to do things, comment with what you want to know and I'll do my best to get back with you asap. Or someone in the community might be nice enough to point you in the right direction.

Another thing to note is that longevity is key. Getting frustrated with things early on isn't worth giving up! If you don't like something or it it seems difficult, just put the game away for a while and come back to it later. You don't need to be constantly playing to enjoy yourself. It's better to do a little bit every single day than it is to get a bunch done in one sitting, and then lose interest. So bear that in mind as you take your first steps!

Looking forward to hearing from other newbies. You guys are great!
