[PME] COUP IN ITALY! REVOLUTION BREAKS OUT AMIDST IMPEACHMENT CRISIS!

Day 5,293, 04:09 Published in USA USA by Tito Magnus

The international community was shocked after a group of Italian government officials and military leaders launched a coup d'etat against sitting Italian President Gustibus. The coup's leaders, namely opposition party Partito Militare Italiano (PMI) members, declared the coup's intent was to restore a competent and neutral Italian government.

According to WCN's sources within the Italian opposition, the coup was a result of the recent re-election of Italian President Gustibus. Our source alleges that President Gustibus is incompetent and not skilled enough to govern Italy, alleging that President Gustibus continuously switches parties and, until last month, did not know the difference between air and ground battles. Gustibus and his allies also allegedly mismanage the nation's training wars and only participate in epic battles while neglecting non-epic battles. President Gustibus and his allies' allegedly also hold a number of "fake" accounts with which they continue to maintain the majority. Following a recent failed attempt to impeach President Gustibus PMI initiated a coup to remove Gustibus by force, citing an inability to defeat Gustibus and his allies' democratically due to their fake accounts.
PMI supporters protest the election of President Gustibus

Our source also alleges that President Gustibus and his allies in the government are CODE-friendly despite Italy's long stance of maintaining neutrality. The coup's leaders claim that their intention in attempting to remove Gustibus and his allies is to remove pro-CODE elements within the Italian government and restore a truly neutral Italy.

The Italian government portrays a very different series of events that led to the coup. Our sources within the Italian government allege that President Gustibus was first proposed by the PMI only for PMI to break up after Gustibus was elected. Gustibus subsequently left PMI to form his own party. After Gustibus and his new party defeated PMI's candidate in the next Italian presidential elections, PMI subsequently initiated the revolution, apparently bitter at their defeat.

The Italian government also alleges that the coup's supporters are supported by certain members of Asteria and thus are not neutral also. The Italian government also denies using fake accounts and has accused PMI and its supporters of using fake accounts.

As the revolution rages, the rebels have accused the government of openly asking for and receiving CODE support, seemingly confirming the rebels' accusation that the current government is CODE-friendly. In response the government have accused the rebels of being hypocrites, pointing out how the rebels have hired foreign mercenaries to support their cause. The rebels have argued that the fact they pay mercenaries for support, rather than asking foreign military alliances for aid, shows their commitment to neutrality even amidst a civil war.

Keep an eye on Italy to see how this situation develops! Should we in the eUSA and Asteria as a whole be concerned that CODE is supporting pro-CODE elements of the Italian government during their civil war?
