[MoFa] Foreign Affairs June 2011

Foreign Affairs

A new month a new minister of Foreign affairs (sort of anyway). I’m hoping for an active month in the foreign affairs ministry, more active then previous month. We’re going to revitalise our ambassadors program and also refocus the ambassador program. Belgium has been a neutral country for a long time now but lately due to circumstances had been pushed on the corner with ONE and thus has gotten a name as being a ONE minded country. For instance on the eNetherlands forum I have seen eBelgium been mentions as a ONE minded country several times.

There are many that think that being neutral is not possible and I hope that we can proof otherwise that it is possible. There was a interesting discussion about neutrality on the eNew-Zealand forum a long time ago around the time eNew-Zealand was added to Erepublik. There are two different kinds of neutrality: active neutrality and passive neutrality. With passive neutrality to quote Arjay Phoenician who wrote a article on this matter “Passive neutrality is defined by doing everything conceivably possible to stay out of the ways of the wicked world, sticking your head under the covers, and hoping no one picks on you. You don’t sign MPPs with anyone at all for fear that such a signing implies a bias toward the super alliance that country is part of. You don’t make the effort to foster diplomacy with your neighbors.” On the other hand you have active neutrality you walk the fine line between countries and alliances and take MPP with all or both sides and try to be friendly with everybody and all alliances. This can ofcourse be difficult with conflict between countries and alliances but still manageable. Active neutrality is ofcourse the better choice and I am glad to see that Belgium is an active neutral country and not a Passive neutral country.

As I said earlier in this article the last month’s due to circumstances as for instance the attacks by France, the invasion by the UK and the three failed attempts by France recently to make us their Natural Enemy we where pushed more into a ONE side. I am hoping this month to work on restoring our neutrality and working on the relations with Terra countries as France, Germany, eUSA and other Terra countries but also keeping our strong relations with ONE countries.

State Secretary of Foreign Affairs

I had the pleasure this month to be able to choose my own deputy this month. In our president’s article people where asked to apply if they where interested and only two people responded to it. Out of the two people who had applied for the job of State Secretary of Foreign Affairs I picked Juan Cruz to be my deputy in the ministry of foreign affairs. Congratulations and I hope for a good and fruitful cooperation together this month in our ministry.

Ambassadors

The Ministery of Foreign Affairs is currently looking for some active and responsible players, who would like to discover another aspect of the game. To establish and maintain good relationships with foreign countries, we need to send official representatives, who could represent our Nation, defend our interests and express the voice of our Government over there. Becoming an ambassador is a good way to get involved and to get notices if you have any further political aspiration. You can find a list of embassies and vacant embassies here. We are especially looking for ambassadors to Germany, US and Turkey and Republic of Macedonia (FYROM)

Become an ambassador, help you country!

Hail eBelgium!
