[DERP] Interesting Times

We are living in most interesting times. These are times when the electoral process has produced a plurality of a presidency, amid a fractured and distrusting people. Times when people are accusatory, on edge, and quick to cast stones.

That phrasing can be applied to many a time in our eUSA history, but rarely in a peaceful time, like our own. Many times when a such a mood arises, it is at a time of war; a time of wipe. We look for those to blame for our defeat.

“Who shall we cast this failure on?! Surely, I do not deserve the blame!”

The fact that such a mood has arisen speaks to the political warfare we’ve seen. We are not at war with outside powers, but with ourselves. We are scared by what we do not know, and what we do not understand. It causes us to act rashly and irrationally, at times.

For instance, take my article from just a few days ago. In it, I acted rashly at a fellow citizen who acted rashly to do what he believed was right. We both believed in what we were doing, because of fear. Dinnyin was afraid of a CG presidency, as he doesn’t know what to expect and is unable to trust him. I was afraid that Dinnyin was unjustly trying to take down and overturn a new government.



However, I did not consult Dinnyin, ask for explanations, or think of his side much at all. Rather, I assumed the worst and acted rashly in response, in the limited time I had.

I should have known better than this, as I know Dinnyin is not a power-crazed usurper. Dinnyin is a very active, good-natured player who is always trying to do his best for the community. He’s high up on the list of best players who’ve yet to serve as PotUS (it’s well past time that he should’ve been elected).

As such, I apologize to Dinnyin for the attacks agianst his high pedigree.

CG even went to the extraordinary length to unnecessarily pardon him, to help him shake off any perceived wrongdoing.

All of this is to say that sometimes you need to take a step back, take a breath, and re-evaluate what you’re doing, and chill out.

After all, it’s just a game. A game that, quite admittedly, fell off the wayside for me in the past month.

Just as I acted rashly, some have also acted out against Chickensguys. They’ve done so since before power shifted to him, wondering how fast we could impeach him. They don’t even want to give him a chance. To them, I have the following advice:

Step back, take a breath, and chill out.



This is just a game, and we’ll see how this all plays out. Everything so far has been pretty conventional, with conventional players at his side to advise and help him.

No scandals, and no hurt in the first 48 hours, and you’re itching to impeach? If anything, you should’ve impeached me for inactivity.

So step back, take a breath, and chill out. Give him a chance, and give your fellow players a bit more benefit of the doubt.

We live in interesting times, but they need not be chaotic and spiteful.

Work for peace, and be better than me and my example.
