Why I Don't Run for Political Office

I really don't want to be here in real or in eRep:

Why? Because I believe that a sole focus on political aspirations continues to do a lot to undermine the success of eAustralia. I also believe there's more that needs to be done than just what gets done as a senator or CP. There are a lot of unsung players that try to work hard on things for which they won't get a medal.

I even tried for a while to do something I thought would be non-political, i.e., restart and run Centrelink. However, I learned that even trying to be non-partisan, it was mostly supported by those who were not opposed to my party affiliation and it was ignored or even trolled by those who were.

It was also quite interesting to learn that players do their own noob support behind-the-scenes to try to lure them into their own parties and MU's. It was obvious then that Centrelink was not going to be a non-partisan effort, therefore I resigned.

This country does not want baby booms per se, but only with the hopes that the noobs will join their own political party. Thus, it is hard for any one player to suggest them. Such is the way part of the game is played.

So why did I run for PP of the APP? If you read my public comments on the issue, you knew I realized there was almost no chance I would win. I wanted to show that things can be done publicly (I didn't talk on IRC one word about it) and I also wanted to reveal that it was not a one-time prank, but part of a more concerted political effort which we see the results of today.

I believe there is more to be done here. Right now I'm looking for something new I can do that everyone in eAUS could get behind. I'm looking at other countries, getting ideas, seeing if there's a point even to playing this game.

I don't expect my detractors to believe it, but it's hard to break out of the political mindset. I get that. Coalitions and new parties abound and most people want to play that way. Fine.

But for me - this is the way I hope to remain:
