What our congress is up to these days
Crock Crosby
I was checking the congressional forums this evening as I do from time to time. There was one law that congress has just started to work on. it as follows and can be found here:
http://ecanada.cc/forums/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=16782
(the link to forums does not seem to work, just copy and paste it)
"I hereby propose a new act, the Canadian Dictatorship Act, and outline it as follows:
1a. The terms, clauses, declarations, rules, and anything related in this act take precedence over every existing act.
1b. Any acts which contradict anything contained within this act are null and void.
2a. Upon being voted on, this act comes into effect with a majority of Congress support.
2b. This act can only be repealed with a majority vote, and is limited to 1 repeal attempt per term, except the term in which this act comes into place.
3a. This act declares that the person whom is positioned as president of Canada is known as the dictator of Canada.
3b. Each time there is a new president, there must be a majority vote selecting them as dictator.
3c. If a presidents term is renewed for a 2nd term, he or she, does not need to be voted in as dictator again.
3d. Once appointed, a dictator can only be removed by successful impeachment process.
3e. A vote for appointment does not need to be passed when this act comes into effect. If repealed, so does the appointment of dictator.
3f. When this act comes into effect, the current president is immediately appointed as dictator.
4a. A dictators vote is automatically considered as 67% of that of Congress, and cannot be changed.
4b. As per 4a, if a dictator casts a vote, the outcome of the vote is automatically decided and Congress must act accordingly.
4c. A motion made by the dictator is automatically passed without the need of a discussion period or vote.
4d. A motion seconded by the dictator is automatically passed without the need of a discussion period or vote.
4e. An amendment to motion, wether by original proposal or not, which is motioned to accepted or seconded by the dictator is automatically passed without the need of a discussion or voting period.
5. This act, when in effect, modifies any acts pertaining to impeachment in such a way that that an impeachment cannot happen more than once per term."
Now here is best part. Because the MDP and Norsefire coalition hold a majority in congress, this law has a HUGE chance of actually passing.
What can happen out of this law u ask?
Well, for starters, at the CPs whim funding can be cut or increased to any Military Unit in the country.
The CP could ban congress members and whole parties from posting in the congress section of the forums.
Now Tax's and NE would not be under total control of the CP, unless he has the majority of congress in his pocket, as now is the case.
This is new and there has been little feedback as to how much support there is for this law. I for one will be keeping a close eye on developments surrounding this proposed act

Well we know Simon is for it. Yes, the Simon that currently controls the funds that are being handed out to all of the MU's in this country.
Etem, want me to steal it all?
making a bit of a leap in your logic there, Etemenanki? As a result of voicing support over a popular bill Simon is automatically suspected of stealing, or planning to steal government funds?
All MU's will continue to be funded there are no plans to cut them off now or ever. I'm pro military always have been and I want my countries soldiers supplied and fighting. I have just informed CAF to the fact as well.
Taxes will be left as per Goran Thrax's suggestions..
The treasury will not be stolen or emptied to line the Coalitions pockets
This act will just insure quick governing and increase effectiveness of the countries decisions
I took Etem's comment a different way.
The controller is all in favour of a bill which makes it unnecessary to steal.
Legal and unilateral redistribution of funds may still be called theft by those who do not operate strictly by game mechanics. Maybe theft is too strong a word ~ how about unfair? But then I would sound like a wuss and this is has not happened yet so it would also be unfair to say such things, wouldn't it?
lol, no..
Interesting interpretations of what I said. Couldn't it just be me pointing out who Simon is?

Looks like the Speaker removed the "stupid act" as it Violated other laws

Crock, I think this is the first time in I have seen a document from parliament hill reach Canada properly in eRepublik in a long time. Congrats.
Also the link doesn't work because it contains a ?, You need to use something like tinyurl to modify the link.

Etem: it could just be you pointing that out. I highly doubt that is the case, but I give you credit for your skilled ambiguity.
For the link: Just copy-paste it in your browser, no read need to tinyurl it.
the role players should honestly be out having a parade for Rylde and the coalition. Look at the rich depth and fullness of role play contained in that act. Its really enough to move a man to role play tears of joy.
in all seriousness people can chill out. back in the real world people only have as much power over you as you give them and like all the silly forum laws the congress people make up in their role play fantasy they have no real impact on the game we play every day.
so the real question becomes: will the whiners work together against the dictator in our epic season finally? Tune in next month for the thrilling conclusion to the series.....
PS. all this fear of being banned from the forums is funny. arent the forums controlled by "epic loyalists?" I'm surprised the dictator has not been arbitrarily banned. lol.
but the fear really brings to light the wisdom of MR. snows proposal to abandon the dinosaur and reintegrate things to the game with a simple article/congress PM system managed by the speaker... which was proposed during my term in congress (not by me) so i know its not a new idea or original to Mr. Snow.
The fact that the majority of congress and our CP support this just goes to show how screwed up our little sand box is.
Hope those who sold there votes enjoyed there tanks.
PS. They also want to give Rylde's Roughnecks double the funding of other MU's base on some formula they just happen to be tops at.
Your tax dollars at work.
Less forum process and lower taxes seem like a good thing all of a sudden. hmmm
Whats the punishment for voting against the dic...tator? Looks like it may be time to move to a more player friendly eNation...
Now is the not the time to leave eCanada. Look at MU populations. If Rylde's roughnecks were to get double funding, congress will have pissed off the other 90% of the population that r not members of RR.
Upsetting that many voters would spell the end of the coalition. They can do this now, but it would be political suicide.
It's as if a kid took a dump on the Monopoly board. It might be hilarious at first, but after a while the kid will be all alone. With a stinky game.
MDP is so awesome
Crock Crosby, that would be the case in real life, but in a game where people get in because Party leaders tell people where to vote, I doubt it's that easy to commit political suicide.
I'm in favour of this dictatorship. But I warn the people who disagree, that the only way to overturn a dictatorship, is to create one themselves.
Food for thought.

More role playing. I don't think it matters what gets made as a "law" outside the game. There is no dictatorship button in eRep and I don't think there will ever be one.
Democracy is an illusion anyway. As long as there is MOAR WAOR!!
Correct. The only way to make a dictatorship work in game is to have a congress of drones. I, as a drone, am making a dictatorship work (:
Both these measure (CDA and RR Double Dip) have been killed by the very dictator you profess to hate so much. So really, what it comes down to, is that you're upset that you aren't the dictator.
Shouldn't the drones be verifying their Congress proposals with the CP before submitting them to public discussion? unless this is like one of those co-operative dictatorships that Sasha was trying to establish
