What I've seen the past 3 days

I've seen people up to their waist in flood water trying to save their livelihood..

I've seen elderly people taken to hospital because their power is down and they can't use their medical devices..

I've seen the land we're due to start building our aquatic centre on, have the aquatic centre provided from above minus the concrete and façade ..

I've seen people and enemies spewing garbage at me at my lowest point when I was in political life, walk beside me saying, "we're with you mate"..

I've seen sports fields my children have played on barely visible by the tops of their goal posts..

I've seen fights in supermarkets over the last loaf of bread and the last bottle of milk..

I've seen politicians shoulder-to-shoulder with locals, with no shoes, in flood waters getting food to isolated communities..

I've seen roads I played on as a child torn up like broken lego blocks..


In the last few days I have seen it all.
