We have a problem...
Arriaes
Dear Belgian citizens, we have a problem and it's a very serious one. I'm talking about a problem much worse as being wiped or getting PTO'ed. I'm talking about an illness in our country much worse as any other illness a country can get in erepublik. I'm talking ofcourse about our inactivity problem. Because i (and everyone else i assume) want to solve this problem i have a couple of suggestions i would like to make to govenments to come.
Suggestion No.1:
I believe that we should restart and promote the ambassador system. For those of you that aren't familiar with the ambassador program, here's a short introduction: New players can sign up for the ambassador program and will be appointed a country based on the languages they speak, their preferences, earlier contacts etc. After they have been appointed a country it is their job to follow the news, the political scene, military actions,... in this country and make reports in the Belgian media. This system involves new players in foreign affairs and includes them in the Belgian community. Furthermore it will boost our media activity. I believe that this program would also boost new players understanding of the eWorld and it's mechanics trough the reading/writing of these articles. Obviously it would also give the ambassadors newspapers a boost and it might strenghten our relations with the country for whom the player is ambassador.
Suggestion No.2:
Our ministery of education has become a position that is handed out after presidential elections but that rarely does anything. This is not an attack on our current MoE but something that has been so for quite a long time. I dare you to go to the Belgian gov newspaper and see when the last time an informative article was published. I think we should make MoE a much more active and important position again that informs newer players not only on our current situation but also on game mechanics. Simple new player guides on how to make money with super soldier medals etc. should be published or even republished after a certain time period to keep players informed.
Suggestion No.3:
Boost the forums! The forum is a very easy place to debate or have some fun. It's also the most important pillar for meta-gaming stuff. The forums are a very good platform to organise citizen programs or contests. If our forum would be more active a lot of people could find a bunch more joy in the game. I know that a part of the Belgian community is against the forum for some reason but i'm sure this can be worked out. After all, think of the possibilities we could have if we had a good working and active forum!
Suggestion No.4:
The (re)implimentation of a minestery of activity should be a priority in my eyes. We need an active citizen that uses his time to promote activity in Belgium. How he fullfills his task is up to him/her but he should get a small budget of a couple of gold to be able to organise contests, sponsor new players to make newspapers,...
Suggestion No.5:
We should promote Belgium in other countries to stimulate a controlled amount of immigration to Belgium. We have the advantage that we have an english speaking community so people from all over the world are able to function in our society. We could publish articles in other countries attracting players to our country. Ofcourse we would have to make sure that no PTO groups get in by doing background checks but that's nothing new.
Suggestion No.6:
This suggestion might be seen as a bit strange or utopian by some because of the radical impact it would have on our society. It would also need a lot of arrangements and i don't know if it is possible at this time but i personally think it could be a life saving (and changing) turn of events for our country. I propose a reïmplementation of the "United Netherlands". Not only would this double our population it would also double our military strenght, media activity, region production bonuses, new players addition rate,... It would change our society radically and i think that the change on itself would already boost activity. There would be a lot of debating and reorganising etc. all by all it would mean a lot of activity for both our and the Dutch community. They are facing the same devastiting illness in their society and only by making a radical change in our historties we can make our communities active and interesting again.
I hope to see some of these suggestions implemented in our society.

Comments
My time is limited today.
But i will give a more elaborate comment later this week.
All very good suggestions.
Unfortunately most players in our little community have the attitude of "let someone else deal with it". That is the biggest problem right now.
I also hope to see more government publications.
Suggestion No.1:
Such a program could work as long as the ambassadors are kept motivated to:
- Ask questions on their host nation(state of affairs)
- follow the changes of their assignment
- ...etc
I am not gonna go into detail too much. Suggestion No.2:
This department do needs to show more. It is possible that some actions are taken to guide new players, but if that is the case, they need to show it to the community so that we all get the sense of progress.
Suggestion No.3:
Nothing to add here... I would be on the front line to get the forum moving again.

Suggestion No.6:
All TOgethers has had this idea on it's priority list for a long time.
But our 2 countries have changed a lot and this might be a problem. As well as that our nations have been on the opposite sides of international politics and alliances for a very long time.
There is also the problem of TO's as the past has shown that unions of this kind are more vulnerable to ti then a single closed country.
Seriously people it's two days untill CP elections and there hasn't been a single article published about it... One of our candidates doesn't even have a newspaper ffs!
I do agree with the general idea of the article but many of the idea are impossible or won't work
Suggestion No.1:
It's almost impossible to find people who a) want to do it b) stay active. This has been a problem before when Erepublik was way more active this was impossible. I ran the ambassador program (at interim) in eUSA years ago back when the game was more active even there it was a disaster. Ambassadors generally don't do much and do nothing at all for the relations between two countries.
Suggestion No.5:
One of my first jobs in eRepublik was (deputy) minister of Tourism on eSouth Africa back in 2010, we were responsible for advertising and recruit people from other countries to come there. Back in the day when eSouth Africa had 3 of the rare diamond resources. Either way same story as above didn't work then at all and surely won't work now. I have been this suggested in different countries now but we have a small pool of users and they will only move to another country if they have a good reason.
Suggestion No.6:
eUnited Netherlands with the current game mechanics is almost impossible. I wrote a article [url=http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/2555454/1/20[/url] about the problems of it 3 months ago when a party suggested it in eNL
voted and endorsed though
Nice initiative.
Only if the Dictator institution would be removed, we could expect some positive change, otherwise no.
eBelgium is almost as dead.
That's a stupid reason to sit on your but and wait for others to do it.
Just because game-mechanics doesn't give you powers, it doesn't mean you don't do anything.
In fact it is reason to do even more!
You know very well how you can change it. But you are 1) to lazy and 2) tho biased towards the forum to use it(prove me wrong).
1. We are not sitting on our butts at all, as the latest RW in Brussels region and the liberation of it was achieved through our coordinated action.
2. eBE Phorum is kind of dull and boring place to visit, I prefer to go and drink some beer in place.
3. Like Shotan has nicely sai😛 "They consider two-clicks or look-for-2-min-before-disconnect is enough to be active."
It says all about current eBelgium climate.
You are joking right about that liberation, who coordinated what?
Furthermore, the climate has been like this for a long time, I think I've mentioned this now and again : over the years lots of people seem to wake up around election time and then go back to sleep (they don't hit, they don't work, they don't publish). Try and figure out where all those players reside.
Changes to eRepublik game has made me stop buying any gold whatsoever, I'm no coasting on what's left of my wealth. I barely hit anymore, I try and keep my fellow MU soldiers provided with. But once the cashflow dries up, it's game over for me.
If you would've read very carefully what I wrote, you would've understood about which liberation I was referring. About the latest liberation of Brussels region. It has been started and coordinated by us.
Of course inactivity is a serious issue for small countries. But the main matter is people don't want to act more for their country. They consider two-clicks or look-for-2-min-before-disconnect is enough to be active.
I try to act more, try to do more for eBelgium but it is hard when the environment seems dead. Maybe because of a political paralysis where we think there is no new activities or debates ? I don't know. But of course some people try to change that.
We need more will from all of us.
Suggestion No.285/69 - 23 :
the point is actually 'no pto, no unity, no fun'. right?
