Day 612, 08:18 Published in USA USA by ghinculov

PORTLAND, Maine — In the next 10 days we'll have a strange electoral campaign: with the war raging on, candidates will have a hard time capturing the public's attention. This being said we are proud to announce the candidature of ghinculov for Congress in Maine. Finally our cocitizens will be able to elect one of them as Senator. Remember, we always fought for what was better for our beloved state and so will he (we know that because he's our editor - full disclosure). His opponents are reputable and distinguished, most of all CVP's logan Dunleavy.

We're sure we will see an interesting and comprehensive campaign in Maine - make sure you read about in Maine's Rolling Thunder!

And now, some local news:

Maine ranked as No. 3 fishing state

PORTLAND, Maine — New fishery statistics show Maine was the nation's No. 3 fishing state in 2008.

The National Marine Fisheries Service this week released its annual U.S. fishery statistics report.

According to the agency, fishermen last year harvested $287 million worth of seafood in Maine. Only Alaska and Massachusetts had higher values.

Still, the value of Maine's seafood harvest was down from $348 million in 2007. The 17 percent decline was due primarily to the falling value of the state's lobster harvest.
