Top 50 eUKers of all time #6 - #4

Day 1,819, 12:13 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Jimbojoy

This series of articles will focus on 50 players who have in some way, at some time affected the eUK, and explain who they are, what they did, and (in some cases) where they went wrong!

Modern Times basically is defined as the time AFTER the great PEACE invasion of America in 2009. This probably is best described as starting at around October of that year, and Mr Woldy's First Term as President as this was probably one of the most exciting times in terms of leadership. So we'll mark that as the start of this timeline (#nothingTOdoWITHtheFACTthisISaroundWHENiWASborn.)

Being President doesn't qualify you for this, as many failed to make their mark. Likewise, neither is never having been elected to congress, or having to hold a Battle Hero Medal – the actions and players listed will all have had repercussions unanticipated by the admins, and their accreditation system…..

…and so, without further ado - I give you players Ranked 6-4!

#6 - Dan Moir

Dan came to prominence in the eUK after successful terms as a congressman, president of the the The Unity Party, and as Minister for Home Affairs. He brought a hard working mentality to the game, that if you want something, you should not only be prepared to see it through, but also prepared to fight like hell to get it done!

Dan is probably most well known for succeeding to the head of the forum administration team on the offsite eUK forums. He has faced vast criticism, vilification and personal attacks for his approach to moderation. However it is clear to someone who has been on the end of forum punishments (and taken them like a man) that the way in which the community rules are set up – are only there to allow us to not be idiots to each other, and help to keep to the in-game ideas of fair play, respect, and fun!

There's one finally reason to put Mr Moir up here in the lofty Top 10. When food prices decided to skyrocket back at the end of V2, Dan set up The Unity Food Program (TUfP). This service provided free food to new players who required it in quantities that had never been seen in game. It comprehensively allowed players to survive and thrive at a when food became more important than tanks to fill a full complement of fights to provide experience points. This scheme formed the basis for many of the modern day schemes – such as The Legion, and the NHS of today.

Poorly and malnurished Diakuns recieve the food they need from TUfP.

#5 - Kumnaa

It really seems we'll be discussing the forums the whole way through this article – given who we have coming up on the list!

Kumnaa founded the modern forums we have (seeing as we've been talking about them so much – sign up HERE!) These are a place where the citizens of the eUnited Kingdom can arrange their affairs and governance, discuss the latest in-game issues of the day, scheme for political power, or, as I am wont to do most often – kick back and have fun making and continuing friendships, and engaging with the community. He's given us a site to expand into to negate all the limitations of the game and help to give us the upper hand against enemies. How on earth do you think the eUK remained unwiped for so long without using the forums to create and nurture players who could command the respect of allies and use diplomacy to shape the new world? Kumnaa (and Nel – hai Nel!) have created a world in which I'd struggle to play eRepublik without.

And yet, special K has another influential role to play on modern era. His actions (albeit before the purported start date of these articles) during his presidency of the eUK would define an era, and our place in the world. A slide towards the PEACE GC alliance would lead to our infamous “Hungary Training War” and would eventually transition us between alliances, lead to the first invasion of America, the formation of EDEN and set the stage for the eUK in modern times. Kumnaa also holds the honour of being the first eUK citizen to achieve a Campaign Hero medal, gaining one shortly after they were introduced to the game. These days, we unfortunately see precious little of him, but we owe him a hell of a lot.

#4 - Boblo Bob

There is a house. Within the hallowed walls of code of this building, I have found a home. A home, friends, fun and spam. It belongs to a God. Bob Boblo.

Bob is an e😜resident of the eUK – despite the admins best efforts to defraud him out of a medal. But this isn't why we can hold him up as a hero.

We can trace back the beginnings of his greatness from the old forums of the eUK, where Bob and another old player Taytaz would comment and post on as many forum boards at such a high rate of reply that they would annoy other users and derail discussion in a delicious manner, trolling away like Charlie Sheen banging ten gramme rocks.

This continued onto the new forums (our current ones) where the battle between the Knights Spamican, and the evil forces of administration (sworn to destroy the glory of the spam), spilled over and lead to legendary battles of moderation and counter-spamoderation. Eventually, the creation of a sub-forum specifically for nonsense, silliness and a personal fiefdom for Bob lead to the spam concentrating in one board. This allowed a community of players to form – a community that to this day largely still exists. You can join the fun at http://forums.erepublik.co.uk/viewforum.php?f=176 .

Bob is on this list however, for his successful destruction of the UKWP (as documented in the last edition of these rankings to go to press.) The group had been looking to enter congress until destroyed by one of the finest PTOs the eUK has ever seen. Bob (Demi-Semi-Hemispherical God) and the BBH brigade took the flag and ripped it neatly in two, closing a sorry chapter in our history with a crunchy snap. With his superhuman dastardly skills, and old popularity allowing him to call in on old favours – the votes he received clearly show that modern eUKers love a modern Bob.

We are nearly done in our quest to rank the best and greatest - tune in next time for the final edition!
