The Mr Crumpets 4 CP Campaign - What went wrong

Day 1,933, 22:15 Published in Australia Australia by Mr Crumpets

Good Evening eAustralia,

Well you haven't read an article from me in nearly a week.
Is it because of anger at what happened? Actually, no.

More I got busy with work and football over the last few days and just ran out of hours in the day.

So let's try and figure out what happened.

The lead up to this CP election campaign was a little different. Due to the 20 day months of February, there would be only 7 days between Senate and CP elections, when there would normally be about 10/11.

The short campaign saw less articles and overall noise from the candidates.

I was hoping I'd be the favourite for this campaign. I fell just 6 votes short last time, but had become more active and presented better arguments since that defeat.

Due to Tim_Holtz not getting much traction with potential allies (mainly due to the CoT Courts and stuff), my approach of 'Fast Government' seemed to resonate with some people.

So on February 26th I proposed to my Green and Gold Party colleagues that I run again and seek their endorsement.

Around the same time, Icetek approached me about running under the PDP banner - I thanked him, but declined out of loyalty to the GGP.

In the 24 hours after my post in the GGP forums, I had members encouraging me to run, with no other contenders (from the GGP or elsewhere mentioned).

During this time, Molly Jo asked if I would mind stepping aside so she could have the GGP endorsement. I respectfully declined, explaining about how close I got last time and that I might not be able to run for a while after the March CP race (due to RL football and work commitments).

So it seemed set for a three cornered contest. MC v MJ v Draim.

On March 1st I asked in the GGP forums that if there was no objections, could Majester hit the endorsement button.

Then for two days I waited. Majester had been seen posting in another thread during this time, but not as active as much as in the past.

I shouted in the party thread, made another post in the forums and sent Majester an in game message asking him to hit the endorsement button.

Nothing 🙁 No word from him until March 4th when it was too late.

In eRepublik, for a person to run for CP, they must be endorsed by the Party President of the Party they are in before March 3rd.

Other Party Presidents can back that endorsement, but only after the party the candidate is in, gives them the original endorsement.

The top 5 candidates (ranked by their party's place on the ladder) contest the election.

Because Majester didn't hit the button in time, I couldn't take part in the election.

Am I angry, no. Am I disappointed, yes.

I don't believe Majester didn't hit the button for sinister reasons, I believe (and hope) it was a case of some RL stuff took him away from the game so he couldn't do it.

I guess why I'm disappointed in him is because he didn't respond to my in game email, or post on the GGP threads a 'Ooops, sorry man, I slipped up, because of...' message.

I felt I at least deserved that.

Next article, I'll outline (since it won't happen now) what plans I had for Foreign Affairs, including allies and a risky military move that if it happened, would change the face of future negotiations for eAustralia.

Thanks everyone,

Mr Crumpets.
