Let's Understand this whole Natural Enemy Thing
The Natural Enemy Law grants extra strength points to combatants who fight in battles against their nation's Natural Enemy (NE).

There's a game Quest involving the NE:
~Defeat 15 opponents in the war against your country's Natural Enemy.
~Fight for 3 days in a row.
~Have 3 Gold in your account.

Now we have the NE against Indonesia. It was first Proposed by a rogue iNCi Congressman immediately after Indo declared NE against us. That Proposal was summarily defeated on principle-- No Discussion, no Proposal. What that did was screw us out of having the NE when we were attacking Hawaii, the loss of bonus strength contributed to the loss of that campaign to regain our region.

What About Initiative?

Harlot attacks without initiative!

Game mechanics rule the day-- we couldn't attack Hawaii again, losing there lost us the initiative. We had to wait for Indonesia to attack us. And since they didn't do it on their own, the War Module did it for them by auto-attacking the USA. Thankfully because of the geographic bottleneck of Hawaii, the only place on the map for Indonesia to attack the US was at California.. at least we knew exactly where, and pretty much when, the Indo Tiger would come ashore.

Here's a pretty tight summary of the sequence of events, from an IRC PM with our CJCS:
21:48 BradleyReala They NE'd us, so they got initiative for the war.
21:48 BradleyReala That initiative flipped when we won Cali
21:48 BradleyReala Flipped again when they won Hawaii
21:48 BradleyReala Flipped a third time when they lost Cali II
21:48 BradleyReala And flipped back when they held Hawaii last.

Army Commander, General Bombonato adds, "Initiative will flip every time the attacker is not successful. In order to keep attacking, a country must keep winning."

I think that sums it up real well.
Keep fighting, keep winning, keep the initiative so we can pick our battles.
Wars are won on the offensive, we need to win to have that initiative.

World War Four, slightly delayed, is a GO!

Prepare Yourself for WAR!

We might hold California, we might not.
China has an NE Law in progress, against Indonesia. They'll be all up Indonesia's back door soon.
Our feisty Aussie friends are to Indo's south.
But Indonesia is not without allies, and this is not just all about Indo vs USA-- this is the beginning of World War, with the Serbo-Huns poised to crap all over Europe.
And PanAm is not all about America, we have a responsibility to our partner members to help defend them just as they have and will continue to defend us.
This is World War, with dynamics reaching beyond our own shores and immediate interests.

Trust our leadership, both Civilian and Military, and trust our unique American system of government, to lead us through hell to ultimate victory.

So, what's coming next?
In addition to the continuing series about the Army-Cavalry merger, the Army Times will be presenting a new article about the Army Rangers-- probably Sunday, slipped in between Parts Two and Three of the Merger series.
