What is a Congress election without "goons"?
So another Congress election in Norway is over. As usual, we kept a close eye on the new and unknown candidates. That is not so difficult given the Norwegian political scene is not very big. It is very easy to pick out candidates that smell suspicious. No, surprise there; there were sudden appearance of new candidates with low XP, and sudden births of several players. It was pretty obvious we were dealing with another wave of goons and possibly players running multiple accounts. Warning the voters didn't stop them from getting votes.
I don't get it. Why resort to multiple accounts. You know you will get caught. The game is so transparent that it isn't really hard for us players to smell you a long way. The biggest political parties in Norway cooperated as normal and made all efforts possible to squeeze out those goons from Congress. We knew they were bad news. Unfortunately, five of them made it to Congress. It didn't take long before their "father", Fulir, was granted citizenship into Norway. Obviously a planned move. What next? Was he gonna used his swarm of multiple accounts to pull a "Seko38" on us?
It's not that we do not want foreigners into our land, we just don't want Congress members who have an hostile agenda. We have several foreign Congress members who are in the business of making a better eNorway. They participate in the political scene with a real constructive contribution, and they do not sneak into Congress. Instead we meet them in our official channels which are our official forum and our IRC channel. Obviously, players who lurk in the shadows will be eyeballed, and if necessary reported.
You won't be missed
So rest in peace, all of you who failed to sneak into eNorway. We will never know why you thought you had to cheat your way in. There are other more respected ways to make it in eRepublik. Getting banned for cheating isn't the way to go. If you really want to quit, quit while on top.

This caused the Kapitalist Partiet not to be able to participate in the elections, btw. Those members raised their membership above ours, forcing us out of the election; and a few people switched parties just to participate on top of that. Cheaters; one gets tired of them, but they do add some drama to the game... I tried to report some of those Demokratene members, but it wasn't soon enough.
@RussK: Remember that there is a limit on how many parties can run for Congress. Only the top 5 parties gets to run. Kapitalist Partiet didn't make it. Also remember that the Party President (like youself) can rearrange the order of the candidates prior to the election. Otherwise they will be arranged after experience points.

Tommy: yes, I know. However, the point I was trying to make is that the influx of cheaters, especially in the aforementioned party, tipped the scales. Demokratene would have been the party left out, not KP. As of now, KP has seven members, Dem. with six now that cheaters have been banned; after KP's prospects of running in the election were looking bleak, at least two members left for that reason alone. Of course, I don't blame them, and I'm sure they'll return before next election. As far as re-arranging, candidates were already committed to a region; however, I guess we could have resigned and went to different, more opportunistic region--that is my fault, I didn't think of that. It's all fun though. Hell, even PTO attempts by cheaters creates action 🙂

The same IP address might not mean cheating, but the same pattern (lvl 14, a few battles, the same friends) and all running for congress in a very small country does look suspicious. that and applying for, and getting citizenship, very quickly after the election doesn't help.
