Ten days of mayhem, explained
TheJuliusCaesar

Greetings,
Yes, it's me again. Did you think I have a life?
We have a new update, specifically an event starting in a bit over seven days, lasting 10 days. The changes described in this article are for the time being only for the duration of the event, per the update link. But what does it include then? A swift 10 points long TL
😉R is in order for our readers in biggest hurry before we dig a bit deeper to the specific consequences and mechanisms.
Too Long; Didn't Read version
1. The event introduces 14 terrain types for the duration of the event to battlefield for ground battles. Air battles won't be affected.
2. These terrain types can be decided for every battle by military leaders, meaning again CP's, dictators, MoD's and MoFA's of each nation, as in the Deployment update.
3. Players can (and need to) distribute their strength over the terrain categories. (This is the beef)
4. There is a limit how much strength can be distributed per terrain type, which can be seen from below table:
So effectively 20k in D1, 25k in D2, 30k in D3 and 40k in D4 available per terrain type
5. You can distribute all of your strength or part of it, however you feel good. For example, I, as a D4 player with 162k strength, could distribute 40k strength for four different terrain types. Or 20k strength for eight terrain types. And so on.
6. Once your strength has been distributed, it can be changed only with Skill Reset Tokens, which are gained as rewards (or can be, in "limited amounts", bought from "battlefield shop" so visa spenders can change it more often. How much often? I don't know).
7. Division change with Maverick pack will cause the division you're changing in to be your new strength cap regardless if you have more strength distributed to the terrain type, see Q&A section for more.
8. Rank points gain is calculated from the total strength of the citizen, in my case from 162k and not the 40k I have assigned to a terrain in which I'm fighting. Further, during the event, you get 100% bonus for your rank point gain.
9. During the event, a battle will become epic once the total damage of the round you're fighting in surpasses the biggest battle by damage for your division during the past 72 hours.
10. You get 3x more cc from True Patriot medals during the event (but you hit with a maximum strength of 40k, so the effective total TP gain will be smaller).
Wew, that's a lot to unpack and dig deeper into.
Some considerations
First, it is a bit ambiguous how exactly the military leaders are able to selectt the terrains for battles, as the exact mechanism is not described. Basing on how it was done in deployment update, I am somewhat confident that a "default" terrain type can be selected from a similar menu as deployment so that it becomes active for the next starting round.
Strength distribution is another key aspect in the event, then. In my opinion, most efficient would be to distribute the strength by maxing out as many terrain types as possible, resulting in 3-5 types maxed for most citizens.
Choose wisely.
But it is not only that considers citizens: nations as a whole, even alliances should try to agree to concentrate on few decided terrain types to maximize its output in the battlefield. It is way more efficient for citizens to max out Jungle terrain type and a country to pick important battles to happen on Jungle terrain type, as it gives more damage for the players, more damage for the nation compared to other options. The more efficiently concentrated nation is on few terrain types, the bigger advantage it has against its rivals.
On the other hand, as Andre3567. well pointed out in the comment section, such organization as above would leave the nation way too vulnerable for attackers employing different terrain. Therefore it would probably make sense for nations and alliances to distribute the strength more evenly across the terrain types, as it makes the system more stable. I'm definitely interested to see how that plays out during the event.
Something to consider is that, while the amount of Citizenship Currency received from TP's during the event is nominally triple, it is effectively usually lower in total because of the maximum of 40k strength used on battlefield.
Probable effects and personal analysis
I have an overall gut feeling that the whole event is something to first temporarily test out a change that might be planned. To see how it behaves on mass testing with a large amount of users. The new mechanic in the event effectively aims to level the playing field to some extent so that strong players, especially in low divisions, are not as dominant as before. It is diminishes the strength gap between the oldest and not-so-old players and even erases it for some like me, who has played since 2011 and is roughly 40k behind the biggest hitters.
Just theorizing, man..
But at the same time it does not completely erase the advantage the ones with bigger strength have, as a bigger strength enables one to fill out more terrain types. So in essence bigger tanks can fight in 4-5 different terrains efficiently, whereas weaker players can only do so in 1 or 2 terrains. Of course it remains to be seen how leniently the Skill Reset Tokens are handed out, and hence how much the strength distribution can be changed.
I feel it is a step to right direction, again, but we need to probably see how it plays out during the event. Of course, we have (or at least I have) already witnessed how some strong players were not happy with the event, as it hinders their TP gains and diminishes the amount of BH medals they can get. Take one for the team, I'd say.
Questions & Answers
Q: What about air battles?
A: From the update: "During the event all the ground battles will require specific skills in order to maximize the damage of the soldiers, depending on the terrain the battle is fought on." So it looks like air battles won't be affected.
Q: How will the terrain be decided in RWs?
A: The specific mechanism hasn't been published, but it probably works the same way as deployment. As in, when the RW starts, the game checks which terrain type is currently selected as default. I'll update here when more specific info will be available.
Q: Is this an update or only an event?
A: From the update: "For 10 days, wise individual ...", so it looks like it is temporary at the current stage and only for the duration of the event.
Q: What about Maverick pack, how does it behave?
A: When it comes to moving between divisions with Maverick packs, it only means you will be hitting accordingly with the strength cap of the division in question, but you can fill your terrains freely per the limit of your original division.
So, for instance, if you have 200k strength in division 4, you can split it to five terrains and max them out (40k str x 5 terrains), but if you change to division 2 for a battle, it will only count as hitting with a 25k strength (if the terrain is right, of course). So the cap just moves with the division.
Feel free to ask questions and I'll answer if I can. General comments are always welcome.
Cheers,
- Caesar
Comments
n0s3y was here. :3
Numbers of tokens purchaseable (is that a word?) seems to be limited too ("[...] a limited number of tokens will be available for purchase through the battlefield shop"), so hopefully you won't get to change it several dozen times by just throwing gold at it.
Plus, what I noticed (and at the same time I'm too lazy to check or ask on eRep's disgrace server) is that the military leader list for deployments includes Prime Ministers but not MoFAs, while this event includes MoFAs but not Prime Ministers. I hope it annoys your autism enough to find out for me whether that's actually the way it's meant to be or if someone made a mistake. :3
Uh oh good point that first one. Fixing some wording.
To the second thing, I noticed the same. However, the MoFA was added to these military leaders already during the deployment event. IDK if they took prime ministers away of it at the same time. Could some Prime Minister reading comments deliver?
Prime ministers are still able to deploy. So, uh, idk why they were left away from this part.
That was quick o/
How will the terrain be decided in RWs?
The specific mechanism hasn't been published, but I guess it works the same way as deployment. As in, when the RW starts, the game checks which terrain type is currently selected as default.
The attacker decides the terrain as such the "original" country should decide the terrain.Another feature implemented to make campaigns less interesting.
And yeah...whoever starts dictatorship I guess counts as the attacker.
Is this an update or only an event?
And as always great article julius.. worth endorse by plato
The update says only for the duration of the event. Edited some wording in the top lines, thanks!
O/ you're welcome Julius
To be honest, it will stop the people who buy packs. Let's be serious and honest in this case - there are hundreds of people, especially from d4 like me, who buy BP MP PP so that they can get the GOLD from lower divisions. With this event (hopefully not permanent change) these packs will be useless - the only advantage I will have will be more HP, but the strength will not differ that much, resulting in more competitive battles for BHs, less earnings so less packs will be bought.
Is it a step towards a better future? Can't say.
It is a step to limit the earnings from packs? Unintentionally, but IMO definitely yes.
*Discuss*.
This is actually complaining about having more people active on BH race.
well , i happen to think its about selfish to think like that , more players in competition is what the game needs! , right now there are only 15 20 people who decide the result of battles, and they are not happy to give places to others.
so we either want the game less dead and more active or we want less competition on BHs , cause those two cant come together 🙂
Hey, babe, but this is just what I admitted, didn't I? Yep, I complain about having more people active on BH race, but in the long term, it will only make people stop buying packs - they won't be rentable anymore.
That's easy... create more packs that fit better with the update. We all know how creative Plato could be.
This is a valid take. However, I do think it is necessary to somehow distance from the current state of game where its existence is dependant on strong getting stronger and more ahead. How? I don't know, but this surely is a step to right direction. If tanks want to have a game where to spend, they kinda need to be able to handle at least some relative deterioration for their current position.
We won't be getting anywhere if the situation for pack buyers is staying as it is now. But you do raise a valid point.
New packs can be invented, new ways to get money devised (see for instance the Skill Reset Tokens). But a change to the broken battle system is needed.
Thanks for the comment!
Actuely i think this will lead more people to buy packs beacuse to win BH medal you will need more HP since strenth has limit - every division will have maximum dmg per hit for each terrain...meaning for same amount of HP people will make same dmg if usinh same weapon quality...so arises need for more hp therefor more packs...if i m wrong correct me pls...
this is also possible 😛
Imagine a game, with very very cheap "packs", where thousand of people buy them for playing real wars, not BHs, because they dont need cc to buy expensive packs..
That would give a new chance to this game.
MP fag DansGame
How about the system where D1D2 is free and MP is only for D3D4 or something like that (and throw IP to the bin entirely or create replacement that isn't stupid).
It would most likely require some kind of rebalance in D1D2 - making it str based could be the option but could lead to screwing over dozen of existing players.
About the current event system I'm torn apart. It is pretty decent on paper, but the fact that the knowledge about its working is some kind of magic known to the 10% of erepublik players who give a damn and not represented in game in any way whatsaoever (systems have to be self-explanatory while current event is basically invisible aside side banner).
Even if the current event is used only as test, it is widely misrepresenting data for the reason I've mentioned above.
FFS Hearthstone doesn't want to change cards to not confuse players when they have huge pop-up banners every time they nerf anything, and erep has huge changes in cryptic event banners that you have to spend half of the hour trying to digest it?
Make different battlefield actually different battlefield you cheapos, then we maybe will be able to start discussion.

What about air?
"During the event all the ground battles will require specific skills in order to maximize the damage of the soldiers, depending on the terrain the battle is fought on."
From the update. Air battles will stay the same. Should made modifications to article, thanks.
Thanks for article, now I understand better xD

A good article, quite informative.
Thanks for article 🙂
But I have one question what this event give me like player who playing with packs?!
Less bh/golds,less cc from tp 🙁
I think it is a price to pay for the common goo😛 that newer players also have a chance. I think we need to see how it plays out during the event, and it is only temporary for now.
you get double Rank Points
https://prnt.sc/gtruk2
Don't have the energy to write it all again, so again, thanks Pluto
The short one is like this:
Why do I buy packs?
To further myself in the game!
Is it worth it?
I dunno!
I happen to believe this is a very good update which pull more people into fighting race for BHs , for winning for everything in battlefield.
however with MP , taking BH even with the full STR is still hard , but still , you can keep EBs for a month and then take 2 BHs , i fancy that 🙂 not bad
It decrease the income of farmers , cause more competition on BHs , but well , more competition is what being active and alive means 🙂
what happens with maverick players that may change division? I mean a player from division 4 with a 200k strength, can go to division 1 and spread it's strength into 10 terrains? or will the switch division feature won't count for the event in this way? And also.. the entire world and leaders should come to an agreement not to fight 3 days before the event, or fight at minimum, because with the new damage of the event, it will be harder to make it epic, even in division.1... or maybe I'm wrong.
ps: a shity way of announcing the event. Just write an article from Plato's newspaper and explain everything, and answer questions... that should be the way these events must be announced.
This is some I didn't cover in the article, good question. The update gives an example of a maverick pack situation:
"A division 3 player with 150000 strength and maverick pack can split his strength between 6 skills in order to optimize his chances of medals in divisions 1 and 2. Even if he has a skill of 25000 for a terrain when he is fighting in the first division only 20000 skill points will be use in the hit."
So, for instance, if you have 200k strength in div4, you can split it to five divisions and max them out (40k str x 5 terrains), but if you change to div2 for a battle, it will only count as hitting with a 25k strength (if the terrain is right ofc). Got hold of it? So the cap just moves with the division.
They have forum topic for questions and such, but it takes a lot of time for them to answer xd It could be handled better.
Thanks for the comment and good question!
Split it to five terrains*, not to five divisions.
asafsafsafsafgfhgfd
the other thing is that will d4 player need a hit from lower division guy (d1-3) to make this 25/30/35k damage or not? at the moment u dont have hit = u fight with bazooka hit
There is no further mention of it, so I'd guess it works the same as now. So you'd need a hit from someone. Maybe?
I'm not sure about this at all xd

Thank you for the article! Very nice try 🙂

"It is way more efficient for citizens to max out Jungle terrain type and a country to pick important battles to happen on Jungle terrain type, as it gives more damage for the players"
After a couple days I believe most countries will end up prioritizing the same terrains anyway, or at least almost the same terrains.
Otherwise following might happen. Country A and B are at war. Country A focuses Jungle, country B on the other hand focuses Airport. If country A starts a campaign against country B on a Jungle terrain Country B will have close to no chance to win, as they have no strength whatsoever in that type of terrain. However, in the subsequent RW country B can choose the terrain, and if they choose Airport than it's Country A not having much of a chance to win.
Assuming no Country goes to war to lose, both countries want to have a chance in both the MPP and the RW battle. So they will just reset their strength and set it on a terrain the opponent has as well, so they have no clear disadvantage in battle.
I only gave 1 focus to each country to make this entire post smaller, but it works as well if every country focuses 5 or 6 or 7 terrains. As long as Country B chooses a terrain Country A ignored it will have a clear advantage. So Country A will either have to surrender the campaign or change their focus.
admin? 🙂
Nope.
This is indeed a core consideration in the event and something I didn't dive too deep into.
Following a simple game theory, it makes sense for countries to try to nullify the advantage of others. As the strength distribution isn't perfectly coordinated (as it happens individually) and there is only a limited changeability in it, it makes sense to try to distribute on same and multiple terrain types rather than condescend onto one.
I should modify the article, in which I didn't really consider more implications like this.
Thank you, sir.
[removed]
this is a significant change because the center of gravity of this game is moved from big tanks and individual fighting to coordination, comunication and aliances. Strategic thinking will prevail meaning smaller and more flexible aliances that cover more terains will win battles. Exept air battles of course
As always - a great analysis! Thank you.
Nice article.
1. So, no Legend bonus per hit or Legend bonus calculated on each hit on top of what comes out with 40.000 strength, e.g. for division 4?
2. There will be much much fewer epic battles during this event, if their new rule applies. Epic in div. 4 is almost impossible, you will be needing 30-40 billions minimum to have an epic. On top of this comes the fact that the player will hit with 40.000 strength hit. That is like 1/4 of our current average hit. Now try to reach 40B with single hits like 75.000. That is also why the new epic rule is really BULLSHIT.
3 5 days after this event we will have BLACK FRIDAY.
1. The latter one sounds accurate for me.
2. I think you might be overcomplicating that a bit. All an epic needs is a bigger damage for battle in division than during the last 72 hours. So if most damage done was 20 billion during the last 72h, 20 billion and 1 damage is needed for another epic. I'm not well versed with the current epic limits to know whether it's much or little.
3. Damn yes xd
Thanks for the input!
Julius, indeed, if 20B is done to only 20B+1 is needed for the next epic. But that's the problem exactly.
Unless things have changed a lot the last few months (haven't paid attention at all to epics), they are pretty rare. As soon as one round, somewhere, turns epic all scripts will fight in it, just for the extra-PP. And several players will spend energy bars to reach a certain amount of PP. And that exactly is the problem. If a current D4 epic "only" needs, lets say, 10B damage 10B have to be dealt for a round to turn epic. Unfortunately as soon as it turns epic another bunch of B are dealt by the scripts and tankers. I cannot really say how many more, but it should be a lot (lets assume 100 citizens have 150M damage each, that's another 15😎.
If in total 30B are dealt at the end of an epic round it will be close to impossible for another campaign to turn epic ithin the next 72h unless it is one of those crazy-one-in-a-year battles.
